What inspires you?

I am Kazi Mamun Ur Rashid, studying in Computer Science and Software Engineering at American International University Bangladesh. Currently the campus lead (AIUB) of Microsoft Student Partners Bangladesh and worked as the Event & Marketing Lead of Microsoft Student Partners Bangladesh network. Beside study I am doing a part time job at Grameenphone (one of the leading telecom company of Bangladesh). I dream of a world, where every child will be safe and will have the guarantee of food, cloth, shelter, medication and “Proper Education”. Apart from those I love music, travelling and film making.

Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.

For me Social Innovation is the process which somehow helps the people; somehow impact a positive change in the society. It’s not necessary to have a big impact on the society but the initiative to change the society in a positive way is what Social Innovation is all about to me.

Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.

"The title of my Project and my Organization is “FAMILY” I dream of a world without child labor, equal distribution of food. Every child will have the feeling of safety and there will be no anxiety of food, cloth, shelter, education and medication. What I believe is; empowering the key person of the family or locality will ensure the safety of his/her family or locality. I Have been working on this project, around 1.5 years ago. Currently , we are working on some new projects. Already I had helped two family and currently me with my volunteer team is planning to elaborate our working field.

What obstacles have you faced thus far? What is your ultimate goal for this project or venture?

The main obstacle of my project was insufficient funding; initially I was only the person for funding, later some of my friends join with me and now we have a team around 30 (including volunteer and members). Already our team helped two families to have a better living. And day by day our members are increasing. The ultimate goal of my project is to build a strong connection among the people. To build a global network where all of the members of this organization and all the people who work for some social change will feel that they are working for a family, the world itself will be a family.

How do you use technology as part of your project?

Almost everything of my project is fully or partially dependent with technology. To find out the interested volunteer for my project I am using social networking sites such as facebook and twitter. Soon we are going to have our own website where we will keep the information of our volunteers, members, donors, and the information of the people with whom we are working to help them.

Actually I love to travel a lot but hadn’t had enough opportunity to visit many places (outside of my country). If I have to choose a place to visit then it would be the United States.
