A Dead Man's Bones Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by Sam, Canada Jan 28, 2005
  Poetry

A dead man's bones
are all he owns
his body laid to rest
his relatives condoned.
His house still stands
without his dead hands
his car still parked
his stocks still marked.
His bar still closed
his money still flows
but he can't watch his favourite TV shows.

His childhood friends, they lay in rows
his secret's exposed and everybody knows,
while seemingly nice
he was as black as a crow

In many days past,
his life, he lived fast
gathering up wealth, so full of himself.
He should have made his family glad
with the little time that he had
but now he is gone and everyone has moved on.

Once an invetment banker so brave
all his material possession which he cherished so
much, he could not bring with him to the grave.
What he did leave behind, his family so kind
they will continue to grow, but they will never know
the caring father, the loving husband, who now only owns
a dead man's bones.
