The Big Question! Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION

Many a times i wonder, why do things happen the way they do? It reminds me of a story of a bird, and this taught me a great deal of a lesson in life. Picture this;- the story of a bird.

He had his wing over his eye and he was crying.
The owl said to the bird, "You are crying."
"Yes," said the little bird, and he pulled
his wing away from his eye.
"Oh, I see," said the owl.
"You're crying because the big bird pecked out your eye."
And the little bird said, "No, I'm not crying because
the big bird pecked out my eye.
I'm crying because I let him."

It's easy to let influence shape our lives,
to let associations determine our direction,
to let pressures overwhelm us,
and to let tides take us.
The big question is,
are we letting ourselves become
what we wish to become?

You pose a very interesting opinion and I like how you displayed the thought you were trying to convey using a story with animals. It gives your idea in a practical way that anyone can interpret and understand in their own way. I agree with you when you say that the way people act is becoming to rely on others deciding the path for you. It can then be related to youth in terms of peer pressure and how some youth can be told to do one thing and they oblige even though they would prefer not to. They only comply because they are being influenced by others.
