Issue 4: Global Youth Culture: The Voices of Youth
As part of the "Youth for Change" program, in 2009 TakingITGlobal collaborated with Bibliotheca Alexandrina to launch a writing and art contest with the theme "Global Youth Culture". This project aims at encouraging cross-cultural dialogue and supporting youth led projects in 14 priority countries: Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Sudan. Through inspiring, informing and involving youth in the Middle East and North Africa, TIG hopes to act as a catalyst in creating Agents of Change in the global community.
TIG asked youth ages 16-32 from around the world to submit their artwork, short stories and poetry to express their views and thoughts about what global culture means to them. Issue 4 of TIG magazine is a collection of this art, featuring writings in English, French and Arabic.
