This introductory activity aims to familiarize students with TakingITGlobal.org and the TIGed online environment, as well as build cross-cultural and empathetic capacities. Students will read TIG profiles and Member Stories, with the objective of better understanding others’ perspectives to critically reflect and write about their own identity.

1. On the left side of the TakingITGlobal toolbar, go to Make Connections and then click on Member Stories.
2. Select a Member Story to read. You may read as many as you wish (click 'Randomize!' at the bottom of the page to view more profiles), but choose one story to read completely and to which you will respond.
3. After you have read the Member Story, add a comment sharing at least two new ideas you have learned from this person. Explain why this information was interesting to you; how does this person’s experience sound different from your own?
