Students willl learn about and present their findings on how the New Year is celebrated in different countries around the world.

Uitkomsten:
- Students will explore the various New Year's celebrations around the world
- Students will selection New Year's celebrations of their choice and research the background of their other traditions and celebrations
- Students will present their findings visually and orally

Tools en Materialen:
- Books on the different countries highlighted on the TIG site
- Internet access
- Relevant arts & crafts materials

Tijd Vereist:
200 minutes

Proces:
- Midway through your nit on Traditions and Celebrations, introduce the students to the concept that throughout the world, the New Year is celebrated on different dates.
- Take the students to the TIG site and let them navigate through the above link at all of the different countries they can choose between.
- Once they have seen them all, they select a country they would like to learn more about, directly related to traditions and celebrations.
- Have them work in partners and over the course of 4-5 days, develop a poster presentation to the class about what they learned.

Docent Notities:
Language follow up: Share your most memorable New Year's experiences in our New Year's Journal, and read about the traditions of other TIG members!

Students can write their experiences and post them i the TIGed virtual classroom or on the theme. For younger grades, the teacher can collect journal entries and type them.
