Dont seem to see any suggestion that a pilot effort has taken place? What will be required to convert the COIN program from a good idea to practical use? We must take this from concept to completion.

I like the ideas behind this activity. I'd like to know more about the ideas of 'coolhunting' and 'coolfarming'. Could you elaborate please?

This course on COINs (Collaborative Innovation Networks), asks students from geographically distributed locations who have never met face to face to form virtual interdisciplinary teams collaborating on a common task, the communication analysis of online communities. As part of their task they correlate individual and team performance of the community they are analyzing with individual and team social network structure. While collaborating over long distance, students also keep track of their own communication activities, thus optimizing their own communication behavior.

Free Internet collaboration tools and software, tikiwiki, skype, Condor/TeCFlow (obtainable from www.ickn.org)

Tempo solicitado:
one semester

Processo:
1. Learn about swarm creativity, Collaborative Innovation Networks, social network analysis, coolhunting, and coolfarming.
2. Form a virtual team (a COIN) with students in other locations, and establish a system to record your own interactions in Step 3, for evaluation in Step 4.
3. Coolhunt together with other members of your COIN in an online community of your choice. While coolhunting, record your own interactions for later evaluation in Step 4.
4. After completing Step 3, analyze and measure the collected interactions within your team, looking at the flow of knowledge within the team and the roles of team members.
5. Optimize your own role in your social network so you can become a coolfarmer within your network. Apply these lessons to coolfarm the online community analyzed in step 3.
