The eye of Earth
I live in a small town of Yarovoe in the south-west Of Siberia. Our small town is famous for the wonderful lake, named the Bolshoe Yarovoe.
One day, my geography teacher gave our class a task to study the lake. Our group consisted of 6 people and each person had to do their own task. My task was to study the lake changes for the last years.
We went to watch the lake, took information about the Bolshoe Yarovoe from books. We spent our time in the shore of the lake. We were there for 5 hours a day, even though the weather was cold. It was hard, but now we know more information about our lake, than before.
The Bolshoe Yarovoe is 11,5 square, 8 kilometers wide and 8 meters deep. This lake is unique. The water in the lake is bitterly saline. The sandy shores of the lake are pleasant to lie on in the sun as July highs often reach +104 F and the temperature of the water is +75 F. The extreme salinity exclude any animal or vegetable life except bacteria. Chemical structure of this lake can be compared to the Dead Sea in Israel. There is medical mud in our lake, which used in the specialized hospital.
I also took some information from my grandmother, who works at the Chemical factory, which was built on the shores of the lake in 1943.
