Another day is here once again, people are looking forward to receive the light that is coming tomorrow. People are vigilant and excited about it. For years people of this nation have really “enjoyed” the long period of the total darkness. The darkness was characterized by the poor governance since the day that nation of Kenya become republic. Few individual have really worked hard to increase the intensity of the darkness by looting the wealth of Kenyans, leaving us with nothing, they did reap where they didn’t sow. The real burden has been felt by the marginalized Kenyans, the poor people who didn’t know where their bread is buttered from, all along they have been hoping for the light at the end of the tunnel but the tunnel has been too long. The blinking light at the far end of the tunnel has taken too long to come by and they were in the verge of losing hope, but, somehow, they have been able to hold on the little faith and hope they had. The dawn is near just around the corner.

We are the ones to determine our daylight. We have got capability to put in place the kind of system we want and have “Kenya we want”. It is high time now for us to put more efforts in shaping the system not only in words but also in actions. Let us pose a question to ourselves: for how long shall we remain in the dark? People, lets go out there and try to educate others, those of us who do not have the knowledge so that we can move on together to higher level without increasing the gap between us, all of us belong to this nation and it is our right to see our nation growing and also to participate in the nation building activities which are legal and capable of generating wealth for the nation, the nation is you and me, you who is reading this article. Don’t expect some other guys from America, India or any place you know to come and help us construct our beloved nation Kenya.

Our focus should be working towards making Kenya a living testimony of dedicated and determined people, a people who are able to sacrifice for their generation and the next in terms of letting go off their personal interest and ego. Several time we have stumble in dark, a lot of tears shaded, but that is not the end life because it is not a process determined by the extrinsic factors, but depended on the intrinsic factors. Time is at hand for us to turn our problems into opportunities simply because I believe problems are opportunities turned upside down. This is because we learn from them, to me learning is an opportunity, considering those who do nothing make no mistakes.

Let us not despise our voting card because it is the way our power determine the end of the dark ages rest. This time we should think hard and engage our minds to analyze leaders before we vote them in or out. The basis of our analysis should not be rooted on tribal lines but on the principles the leaders have and their visions for the whole community. And in all this we shall be playing an integral role in ending the Dark Age and possibly in maintaining our integrity as Kenyans. One thing we should know better is how to lose your dignity and not your integrity. Your integrity will earn you dignity.
