From the cafes of Beirut
The echoes of ‘82 again
The haunting snares of the burning cedars
of the Beka’a
For nothing they cease to refrain
yesterday Fatah, today Hiz’bullah
From Arafat to Nas’rallah
But they could not him route
From Shamoutz bombs
To cluster bombs
Night after night, day after day
Their strength never strayed.
But their courage never failed
The news says
New and farther Kibbutz
Too tasted their bombs.
The gang of uniformed ‘Stern and Irgun’
Armed to the teeth
Could not the poor mujahideen
Beat
So their frustration,
Shame, fear and corruption
Vented on the innocent of Beirut.
They say its war
I fear it’s nothing like war
But the symbol of doom.
All ye who time asked
Were shamed by their own counsels
And in their security council
For an end asked
Mighty Zionism
Beaten at its own game
Mighty America of capitalism
Fallen in its own grave.
The bitter taste of defeat
Standing at their feet!
