an ache in my heart
when I see your face
flawless, perfection
and I feel awkward

you're the one
the one I never had
the one I always wished
I wished that I had

laughter, teasing
almost forever
I would close my eyes
and dream of your face

you're the one
the one I never had
the one I always wished
I wished that I had

maybe I'm delusional
or perhaps overly vain
but there's something, baby
only between us

you're the one
the one I never had
the one I always wished
I wished that I had

irony, irony
all those years wasted
and I'm with someone
you're still alone

I wished that you'd told me
all those wasted time
my lost hopes and dreams
but baby, it was you
