In the recent past, I am thrilled by the way politics are going on my country. I am not a fun in politics but interested on information technology and the how the information we receive as young people affect our system of thinking.
In one of our local TV station, i like the campaign slogans that are aired. "Kura yako ni sauti yako" (your vote is your voice). "to end insecurity, poverty, corruption.... get your voting card now". The are all good to make a link between a political will and the social issues we are facing. There are many more campaigns all aimed at the youth by the youth. It is all perfect.
But i keep on wondering loudly. When will we young people realize that we are not just only to vote the right leaders but we can be the right leaders? So far, no campaigned has mentioned that the young people who feel they has a political ambition and good will need to come out to lead our country. I have been to many organizations, have attended some youth organized events as the one for TIG in Kenya. What marvels me is the intelligence and the genuity exposed to us as young people. We have such potentials to lead a nation that respects democracy and stands for the basic human rights while promoting the livelihoods of all its members.
We have been educated. Young people have earned great degrees in political sciences, leadership, international relations etc. the list is endless. Young people have studied outside this country and have traveled to understand how other nations have worked to prosperity. Where is this expertise needed at this crucial moment?
A friend of mine made me think twice the other day by this comment, "Ah politics in this country is hereditary. If your grand father, your father or your uncle was never in politics, forget it my friend." I thought for a while and actually he is 90% right. Is it that leadership is hereditary or still we can make leaders from the shambles? I believe we can. In an age of democracy we cannot suffice to stand political anarchy.
The future of every nation lies in the present leadership. Without undermining the role the old members do play in giving stability to every endeavor, we as young people we must start to crawl close to them to hold the future in our hands today.
In community development, we say, let people learn by doing as a baby learns to walk by doing it. We as young people we have to learn to lead by leading now with the caring help of our old members. We can be confident of ourselves if we can not affirm ourselves for change.
The young campaigners, challenge young people to be leaders than just voter in our country.

I am the sixth of eight children of a polygamous family. After graduating from high school, I was asked to help in a local girls secondary school teaching mathematics after the death of the teacher. This time was exciting and it was then that I had an opportunity to see my own potential and those of the young people. I realised encouragement and the availability of resources can unleash the inner strength of the young to do great things and I promised to dedicate myself to the service of the young. In 1999, I entered into a religious missionary congregation of the Consolata with the intention of becoming a priest so I can reach young people all over the world.
I finished my first degree in philosophy in 2003 with a diploma in religious studies. I took a one year break to one of the provinces for one year helping the young people to develop micro-scale business. It was really a beautiful experience!
I am currently pursuing a degree in Religious studies and a diploma in Youth Ministry.
