We know that you're not here to read spam or garbage, that you don't want to download stuff that will mess up your computer, and that you don't want to be harassed or insulted. That's why we created these documents. To protect our community from things that we want to be able to get rid of. By using the TakingITGlobal site, you are agreeing with the following terms and privacy policy. In other words:

To make sure that the TakingITGlobal Online Community and the content and services it provides to you are of the highest possible quality, we have developed this Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We welcome your feedback and ideas on how to improve these terms. Please contact us with any and all suggestions! And, if any time, this site or these Terms of Service become unacceptable to you, you may discontinue using this site.

Terms of Service ("TOS")

1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to TakingITGlobal! TakingITGlobal provides its service to you, subject to the following Terms of Service ("TOS"), which may be updated by us from time to time without notice to you. You can review the most current version of the TOS at any time at: https://www.tigweb.org/static/disclaimer.html. In addition, when using particular TakingITGlobal services, you and TakingITGlobal shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such services which may be posted from time to time. All such guidelines or rules are hereby incorporated by reference into the TOS.

2. Description of Service
TakingITGlobal currently provides users with access to a rich collection of resources, including various communications tools, databases of information, collections of expressions, forums, and content through its web site(s) (the "Service"). Unless explicitly stated otherwise, any new features that augment or enhance the current Service, including the release of new TakingITGlobal sites and features, shall be subject to the TOS.

3. Your obligations as a member
In consideration of your use of the Service, you agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by the Service's registration form (such information being the "Registration Data") and (b) maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or TakingITGlobal has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, TakingITGlobal has the right to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any and all current or future use of the Service (or any portion thereof).

4. Member account, password, and security
You select a username and password upon completing the Service's registration process. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password, and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your password. You agree to (a) immediately notify TakingITGlobal of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and (b) ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. TakingITGlobal cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this Section.

5. Member Conduct
You understand that all information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials ("Content"), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from which such Content originated. This means that you, and not TakingITGlobal, are entirely responsible for all Content that you upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available via the Service. TakingITGlobal has limited control of the Content posted via the Service and, as such, does not guarantee the accuracy, integrity or quality of such Content. You understand that by using the Service, you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable. Under no circumstances will TakingITGlobal be liable in any way for any Content, including, but not limited to, for any errors or omissions in any Content, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available via the Service.

You agree to not use the Service to:

1. upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, pornographic, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;
2. harm other members in any way;
3. impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a TakingITGlobal staff member or forum moderator, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;
4. forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any Content transmitted through the Service;
5. upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that you do not have a right to make available under any law or under contractual or fiduciary relationships (such as inside information, proprietary and confidential information learned or disclosed as part of employment relationships or under nondisclosure agreements);
6. upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights ("Rights") of any party;
7. upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation;
8. upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment;
9. interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the Service;
10. intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable local, state, national or international law;
11. "stalk" or otherwise harass another; or
12. collect or store personal data about other users.

You acknowledge that TakingITGlobal may not pre-screen Content, but that TakingITGlobal and its designees shall have the right (but not the obligation) in their sole discretion to refuse or move any Content that is available via the Service. Without limiting the foregoing, TakingITGlobal and its designees shall have the right to remove any Content that violates these Terms of Service or is otherwise objectionable. You agree that you must evaluate, and bear all risks associated with, the use of any Content, including any reliance on the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of such Content. In this regard, you acknowledge that you may not rely on any Content created by TakingITGlobal or submitted to TakingITGlobal.

You acknowledge and agree that TakingITGlobal may preserve Content and may also disclose Content if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process; (b) enforce these terms of service; (c) respond to claims that any Content violates the rights of third-parties; or (d) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of TakingITGlobal, our members and the public.

6. International Use
Recognizing the global nature of the Internet, you agree to comply with all local rules regarding online conduct and acceptable Content. Specifically, you agree to comply with all applicable laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from Canada or the country in which you reside.

7. Materials submitted or made available for inclusion on the service
TakingITGlobal does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Service. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Service, you grant TakingITGlobal the following world-wide, royalty free and non-exclusive license, as applicable:

• With respect to Content (including photos, graphics, audio or video) you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Service, you hereby grant to TakingITGlobal a perpetual, irrevocable and fully sublicensable right and license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other works in any format or medium now known or later developed.

8. Notice and Takedown
Since we respect content owner rights and provide operations in the United States, it is our policy to respond to alleged infringement notices that comply with the notice and takedown regimes in the jurisdictions in which we operate, including the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (the "DMCA").

If you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement and is accessible via the Service, please notify our copyright agent according to the procedures set forth in the DMCA. For your complaint to be valid under the DMCA, you must provide the following information in writing:

1. An electronic or physical signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner;
2. Identification of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed;
3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and where it is located on the Service;
4. Information reasonably sufficient to permit TakingITGlobal to contact you, such as your address, telephone number, and, e-mail address;
5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or law; and
6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

Please note that this procedure is exclusively for notifying TakingITGlobal and its affiliates that your copyrighted material has been infringed. The preceding requirements are intended to comply with Company's rights and obligations under the DMCA, including 17 U.S.C. §512(c), but do not constitute legal advice. It may be advisable to contact an attorney regarding your rights and obligations under the DMCA and other applicable laws.

In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, TakingITGlobal has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. we may also at its sole discretion limit access to the Service and/or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe any intellectual property rights of others, whether or not there is any repeat infringement.

9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold TakingITGlobal, and its affiliates, officers, agents, co-branders or other partners, and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of Content you submit, post, transmit or make available through the Service, your use of the Service, your connection to the Service, your violation of these terms of service, or your violation of any rights of another.

10. Third Party Links
The Service may provide, or third parties may provide, links to other World Wide Web sites or resources. Because TakingITGlobal has no control over such sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that TakingITGlobal is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any Content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. Such third party sites are governed by their own separate terms of use and privacy policies, which you should review separately. You further acknowledge and agree that TakingITGlobal shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such Content, goods or services available on or through any such site or resource.

11. General Information
These Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy below constitute the entire agreement between you and TakingITGlobal, and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements between you and TakingITGlobal. You also may be subject to additional terms and conditions that may apply when you use affiliate services, third-party content or third-party software. The TOS and the relationship between you and TakingITGlobal shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario. You and TakingITGlobal agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the City of Toronto, Ontario. The failure of TakingITGlobal to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the TOS shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision of the TOS is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the parties nevertheless agree that the court should endeavor to give effect to the parties' intentions as reflected in the provision, and the other provisions of the TOS remain in full force and effect. You agree that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to use of the Service or the TOS must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose or be forever barred.

The section titles in the TOS are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.

12. Modifications to Service
TakingITGlobal reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. You agree that TakingITGlobal shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.

13. Termination
You agree that TakingITGlobal, in its sole discretion, may terminate your password, account (or any part thereof) or use of the Service, and remove and discard any Content within the Service, for any reason, including, without limitation, for lack of use or if TakingITGlobal believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the TOS. TakingITGlobal may also in its sole discretion and at any time discontinue providing the Service, or any part thereof, with or without notice. You agree that any termination of your access to the Service under any provision of this TOS may be effected without prior notice, and acknowledge and agree that TakingITGlobal may immediately deactivate or delete your account and all related information in your account and/or bar any further access to the Service. Further, you agree that TakingITGlobal shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any termination of your access to the Service.

14. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT:

1. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TAKINGITGLOBAL EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
2. TAKINGITGLOBAL MAKES NO WARRANTY THAT (i) THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, (ii) THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, (iii) THE RESULTS THAT MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE, (iv) THE QUALITY OF ANY PRODUCTS, SERVICES, INFORMATION, OR OTHER MATERIAL PURCHASED OR OBTAINED BY YOU THROUGH THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS, AND (V) ANY ERRORS IN THE SOFTWARE WILL BE CORRECTED.
3. ANY MATERIAL DOWNLOADED OR OTHERWISE OBTAINED THROUGH THE USE OF THE SERVICE IS DONE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND RISK AND THAT YOU WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM OR LOSS OF DATA THAT RESULTS FROM THE DOWNLOAD OF ANY SUCH MATERIAL.
4. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED BY YOU FROM TAKINGITGLOBAL OR THROUGH OR FROM THE SERVICE SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THE TOS. SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE LAWS, YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY IS TO DISCONTINUE ACCESSING AND USING THE SITE.

15. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
YOU EXPRESSLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT NEITHER TAKINGITGLOBAL NOR ANY OF OUR AFFILIATES, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, CONTRACTORS OR SUPPLIERS SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES (EVEN IF TAKINGITGLOBAL HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES), RESULTING FROM: (i) THE USE OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE; (ii) THE COST OF PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS AND SERVICES RESULTING FROM ANY GOODS, DATA, INFORMATION OR SERVICES PURCHASED OR OBTAINED OR MESSAGES RECEIVED OR TRANSACTIONS ENTERED INTO THROUGH OR FROM THE SERVICE; (iii) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR DATA; (iv) STATEMENTS OR CONDUCT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE; OR (v) ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO THE SERVICE.

16. Violations
Please report any violations of the TOS to us.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how TakingITGlobal ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and discloses personal information in the course of operating our organization, including in connection with administering programs and services and operating our websites at www.tigweb.org, www.tiged.org, www.risingyouth.ca, www.whose.land, www.codetolearn.ca, www.connectednorth.org, www.youthmovements.org, www.youthleadershipfund.org, and any other TakingITGlobal or partner web sites that link to this Privacy Policy. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information and how you can access and update this information.

If you use the Connected North: Pathways iOS app, please also read section 8, Connected North: Pathways App, which explains how the app collects, uses and shares information.

1. Personal Information Collection and Use
This Privacy Policy covers TakingITGlobal's treatment of personally identifiable information that we collect when you are on the TakingITGlobal site or when you use TakingITGlobal's services online.

Becoming a Member. TakingITGlobal collects personal information when you register as a TakingITGlobal member. The information we collect when you register includes your name, e-mail address, city, state/province, and country, as well as other optional information that you may choose to provide, such as a profile photo, information about your interests in global issues and experiences in community engagement. We will also ask you to create a username and password. We use this information to manage your membership, to fulfill your requests for services, facilitate your participation in or use of the communities, programs, features and tools offered on our websites and to communicate with you.

Participating in communities and forums. Members can post testimonials or comments on our websites. By submitting a comment or testimonial, members agree to the use and publication of their name along with their comment or testimonial and also to comply with our community guidelines set out in our Terms of Service. Our websites offer publicly accessible blogs or community forums. You should be aware that any information you provide in these areas may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. To request removal of your personal information from our blog or community forum, contact us at memberservices@takingitglobal.org. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

Applying for and participating in programs. We also collect personal information if you apply to participate in our programs, including our #RisingYouth Community Service Grants, the Youth Leadership Fund, Connected North, Create to Learn, and Code to Learn opportunities. The information we collect when you apply to participate in our programs includes your name, e-mail address, city, state/province and country, demographic information and details specific to the administration of each program. We may also request additional information to verify your identity and for tax reporting purposes, where required, including your government issued identification and social insurance number. We use this information to process your application, to verify your identity and determine your eligibility to participate in the program, to administer the program, to report income (as applicable) and to communicate with you.

Referring friends and family. If you choose to use our referral service to tell a family member or a friend that you know well about our websites, we will ask you for your family or friend's name and email address, and you must be sure that they wouldn't mind receiving this email. We will then send your family member or friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the website. TakingITGlobal stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral program.

Newsletters. If you choose to subscribe to one of our newsletters, we will ask for your name and email address to send the newsletter to you. We may also send you information and communications, including promotional communications, if you have provided your contact information to us. You can unsubscribe from our newsletters and promotional communications at any time. Please see the "Your Choices" section below.

Making a donation. If you choose to make a donation, we collect personal information in order to process the donation payment and facilitate the recording and tax receipting of your donation. If you have made a donation, we may also use your personal information to send you information and updates on the programs and services that your contribution has supported, and for future fundraising campaigns. Once tax receipted, we are not able to issue refunds of donations.

Information collected automatically. TakingITGlobal automatically receives and records information about your use of our websites and online services. This may include your IP address, cookie and similar technology information, browser and device information, pages viewed, features used, links or buttons selected, navigation paths, referring pages, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the date and time of your interactions. We use this information to understand how our websites and services are used, troubleshoot issues, improve functionality and user experience, evaluate our programs and services, and maintain the security and performance of our websites and services. Please see the "Cookies & Web Beacons" section below for more information.

2. Information Sharing and Disclosure
TakingITGlobal is designed to make it easy for you to find and connect with others. For this reason, if you choose to become a member and participate in our online communities or forums your name and profile picture will be displayed publicly. If you are uncomfortable with sharing your profile picture, you can delete it or not add it. If you are uncomfortable sharing your real name, you can provide a non-identifiable alternate name instead for online community use.You can also control who can find you when searching on our website or on public search engines through your privacy settings and the 'close account' tab of your profile.

TakingITGlobal may share personal information with service providers that provide services on our behalf such as data hosting and processing, marketing and analytics, payment processing and other services. Some of these service providers may be located outside of Canada, including in the United States.

TakingITGlobal may share personal information with third parties involved in the operation or administration of our programs and services to the extent necessary to operate and administer those programs and services. For example, if your participation in a program requires accommodation or travel bookings, we may require information requested by travel or accommodation providers to confirm these arrangements.

TakingITGlobal may share personal information in other circumstances with your consent or as permitted or required by law. For example, we may be required by law to share personal information pursuant to a subpoena or warrant, and may disclose personal information where necessary to protect the health and safety of our staff, members and others or to enforce our agreements with you.

TakingITGlobal may share personal information in the event that we are sold to or merged with another organization or undergo a similar business transaction.

3. Cookies & Web Beacons
TakingITGlobal may set and access TakingITGlobal cookies on your computer, used to identify your member account and to allow for the proper functioning of the TakingITGlobal web site and accompanying services. "Cookies" are small data files that your web browser may place on your computer when you go to different websites and mark that you have visited these sites.

We use analytics technologies and third-party analytics service providers, including Google Analytics and PostHog, to help us understand how visitors use and interact with our websites and online services. These technologies may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about website and service usage, including pages viewed, features used, links or buttons selected, navigation paths, browser and device information, and the timing of interactions. We may also use session analysis and session replay technologies that allow us to reconstruct or replay a visitor's interactions with our websites and online services. We use analytics and session information to compile statistics, analyze usage patterns, troubleshoot issues, evaluate and improve functionality and user experience, and improve our websites, programs and services.

If you wish to opt-out of your sessions being included in our data collection for user experience, analytics and troubleshooting, you can contact us at privacy@takingitglobal.org.

Our Web pages contain electronic images known as Web beacons (sometimes called single-pixel gifs) and are used along with cookies to compile aggregated statistics to analyze how our websites are used and may be used in some of our emails to let us know which emails and links have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of our communications and marketing campaigns.

4. Accessing and Editing Your Information and Your Preferences
As a member, TakingITGlobal gives you the ability by clicking here to edit your Information and Preferences at any time, including whether you want TakingITGlobal to send you correspondence or discontinue receiving such correspondence.

If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications, you may unsubscribe from our database at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each newsletter or communication. You may also withdraw your consent at any time through E-mail Settings, or you may contact us at info@takingitglobal.org with any questions or comments relating to your requests.

You may also request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting us as described in the "Contact Us" section below. Please note that your right to access and correct personal information is subject to applicable legal restrictions and we may take steps to verify your identity before providing access or making corrections.

5. Data Retention and Safeguards
All information is kept in databases on our servers and is accessible to our employees, contractors and service providers who require access for the purposes described in this privacy policy.

The security of your personal information is important to us. We take steps to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you have any questions about security on our websites, you can contact us at info@takingitglobal.org.

We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services contact us at info@takingitglobal.org. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post the revised privacy policy on our website. We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by email, or by means of a notice on our home page.

8. Connected North: Pathways App
This section applies to the Connected North: Pathways iOS app ("Pathways") and adds to the rest of this Privacy Policy. Where this section describes the app differently from the rest of this policy, this section describes how the app works.

Who Pathways is for. Pathways is for students in Grade 9 or above who are 13 or older. Before you sign in, Pathways asks whether you are 13 or older and saves only your answer on your device, not your birth date. Accounts for earlier grades cannot sign in to Pathways, but can continue to use the Connected North student portal on the web.

Using Pathways without signing in. You can browse public career and learning resources in Pathways without signing in.

Signing in with your student account. When you sign in, Pathways connects to your student profile, your saved resources (where supported) and your Cloud Tutor history. Your student profile can include your name, username, grade, school, teachers, gender and other information provided through the student portal. Your account can also include saved items, plans, a resume, your journey, points and Level Up Math progress. We use this information to provide Pathways features to you.

Connection information. When Pathways connects to our systems or to the service providers described in this section, those systems receive standard connection information, such as your device's IP address.

Local Tutor. Local Tutor runs on supported Apple devices. Pathways does not upload Local Tutor messages to generate responses or save them to your student account. Local Tutor chats and learning preferences are stored on the device separately for each student account, and Local Tutor chats are excluded from device backups. You can delete your Local Tutor chats. Signing out hides that account's Local Tutor history but does not erase it from the device. Public resources downloaded on a device may be available to other accounts that use Pathways on the same device.

Cloud Tutor. Cloud Tutor is an online tutoring service that uses artificial intelligence. On each device, Pathways asks for your permission before you can use Cloud Tutor with your account. With your permission, Pathways sends your messages, the text of resources you select, your learning preferences and relevant information about you to the online tutoring service so that it can respond to you. This information can include your grade, school, community or location, Indigenous identity (if you have provided it), interests, learning goals and course plans.

The online tutoring service runs on Google Cloud (Firebase). Responses are generated by Anthropic's Claude artificial intelligence models, which we access mainly through Amazon Web Services (AWS) and otherwise directly from Anthropic, sometimes through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may also receive your current question and a limited portion of your recent conversation to find relevant resources. Cloud Tutor information is processed outside Canada, including in the United States, and may be processed in other countries.

You can withdraw your Cloud Tutor permission at any time in Pathways under You > Privacy and data use > Reset Cloud Tutor permission. Pathways will then ask for your permission again before you can open a Cloud Tutor conversation. Withdrawing permission applies to your account on that device. It does not delete your saved Cloud Tutor chats, which you can delete separately, and it does not affect information that has already been sent.

Your Cloud Tutor chats, including any attachments, are saved with your account using our service providers Airtable and Google (Firebase), and you can view them in Pathways or in the student portal. You can delete individual Cloud Tutor chats or clear all of your Cloud Tutor chats.

Optional usage and diagnostics sharing. Pathways includes a setting, You > Share usage and diagnostics, which is off by default and applies to everyone who uses Pathways on that device. If you turn it on, PostHog, our analytics service provider, receives selected usage events (for example, which screens and types of resources are opened), technical information such as the app version, device model and operating system, and a randomly generated identifier that Pathways does not link to your name or student account. Sentry, our error monitoring service provider, receives crash and error reports, including technical details about the app and device. Pathways sends this information to PostHog's and Sentry's services in the United States. We use this information to understand how Pathways is used, fix problems and improve the app. It does not include your PIN, the text of your tutor messages, student names or session recordings. If you turn the setting off, Pathways stops sending this information.

Service providers. We share personal information from Pathways with service providers, including Google (Firebase), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Anthropic, Cloudflare, Airtable, Supabase, PostHog and Sentry, under written agreements that require them to protect it.

The session analysis and session replay technologies described in section 3 relate to our websites. They do not describe the Pathways app itself, and the app's usage and diagnostics sharing does not include session recordings. When you open the student portal or an external resource link from Pathways, it opens in your web browser, and that website's own practices apply. For TakingITGlobal websites, those practices are described in the rest of this policy.

Embedded videos and external websites. Some resources in Pathways include embedded YouTube or Vimeo videos. When an embedded video loads, even before you press play, it can send connection information to YouTube or Vimeo, including your IP address and browser or device details. YouTube videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. These providers handle that information under their own privacy policies. The usage and diagnostics setting in Pathways does not control what third-party websites or video services collect.

Deleting your account. You can delete your account in Pathways under You > Settings. You will need to enter your PIN to confirm. If your account cannot sign in to Pathways, you can delete it in the student portal under Settings. Account deletion in Pathways and on the web uses the same process. When deletion is successful, it deletes your student profile, the saved items stored with your account, your plans, resume, journey, points, quiz answers, learning progress including Level Up Math, and Cloud Tutor chats and attachments. It also removes your name, username, PIN, contact details, teacher links, Indigenous identity, interests and bookmarks from the program record described below. When you delete your account in Pathways, the app also removes that account's Local Tutor chats, saved items, learning preferences and Cloud Tutor permission from the device you are using.

Deleting your account does not remove information stored by Pathways on other devices. To remove it, delete your Local Tutor chats on each device before you delete your account, or delete the Pathways app from that device. Deleting your account also does not remove public resources downloaded to a device, or information belonging to other accounts on the same device.

Some records are kept after your account is deleted: a program record that includes your school, school location, grade, province or territory, sign-up date and number of logins, without the details listed above; your past draw and reflection entries, which stay linked to that record; questions, session requests and ratings you submitted, which are no longer linked to your account but keep the text you wrote, which may include personal details; and prize and reward shipping records, which can include your name, email address and mailing address and are kept for prize fulfilment and accounting. We also keep a limited internal record of the deletion so that it can be completed and is not reversed. We keep these records for up to two years after your account is deleted, unless we are required by law to keep them longer.
