We are not just number or sort of biological accidents here in Nigeria. Our vote counts and we make up to about 40% of Nigeria entire population. We cannot have good electoral democracy in the absence of credible participation of the young people of Nigeria home and abroad. Our vote’s counts. It is now or never. We can partner with the adult to make things work in this great country. We are the future hope of Africa and we cannot afford to fail this expectation. We cannot have that dream jobs if the governance in shambles and shackles. Someone needs to rise up to this challenge. ‘Yes change can really happen if we care’ I personally care and what about you?
From my recent interaction with the INEC institute in Abuja FCT, during my internship the federal Capital, I discovered that the voter registration in now a continuous thing in various INEC offices across the Nation. It is now young people can capture good governance by going to register if one has not by now. Also, encourage others to do same. We cannot be use again by some ambitious politicians as thugs or to cause violence….Arise oh compatriot, Nigeria calls obey now. We can choose our leader by credible participation in the electoral process. Please rise now and go for registration if you have not.
Congo (DRC)

The United Nations says it is alarmed by the number of deaths in a prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo. At least 26 inmates have died from acute malnutrition at the main prison in the city of Mbuji Mayi in Kasai Oriental province since February. Four inmates died of hunger Since July 13 alone. The UN says it is particularly concerned because no measures are being taken to improve living conditions. It says many of the inmates have not yet been convicted of any crime. The UN is providing water to the prison on a weekly basis. (BBC)

Ethiopia

Army worms, hail and floods are adding to the woes of Ethiopians reeling from high world food prices and a drought that has affected some 4.6 million people, the UN said on July 23. Ethiopia has had the shorter of two annual rainy seasons fail, but aid agencies said earlier this month that a hunger emergency had been averted, although high food prices were still hurting Ethiopian families. Nearly 2,000 farmers in the southern regions of Welayeta and Gamo Gofa lost crops due to torrential rains, hailstorms and army worms, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in its weekly report. (Reuters)

Gabon

Gabon and Equatorial Guinea said July 22 that they have made substantial progress towards referring their border dispute to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the main judicial organ of the United Nations. In a joint statement issued after two days of meetings at the UN Office in Geneva (UNOG), representatives of the neighboring African countries said they had worked on key documents for a planned joint submission to the ICJ, which would then adjudicate on the boundary. The maritime dispute between Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, which emerged in 2003, centers on an island which has oil resources. (UN News Service)

Guinea Bissau

The number of people infected by a cholera outbreak in Guinea Bissau doubled in July to more than 600 and infections have spread to areas of the country previously considered low risk, health experts warn. Of 611 people in Guinea Bissau who have contracted the disease this year, 344 of them were infected in July, according to the government's statistics. So far 14 people have died. The outbreak has reached Gabu and Bafata, two areas normally immune from infection, and six other regions. The outbreak started in the Tomboli region in the south of the country and spread to the capital in early July. (IRIN)

Kenya

Elders from Kenya's Luo community in western Kenya have refused to endorse a plan to promote male circumcision to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS. The Luo Council of Elders says it cannot sanction circumcision, as it is against the community's culture. A ministry of health campaign is trying to encourage more men to be circumcised by offering free circumcision services in Nyanza Province. Researchers say circumcision reduces the risk of HIV infection among men. Traditionally, the Luo community does not practise circumcision, unlike some other Kenyan communities. About 2.5 million of 32 million Kenyans are currently living with HIV/AIDS. (BBC)

Liberia

Five years after the peace agreement that ended its civil war, Liberia has made accelerated progress on several human rights issues, but there are still serious concerns about the rule of law. “The installations of a new democratically elected government which took office in January 2006 has witnessed the acceleration of progress on a number of human rights and development issues including economic and social rights," Charlotte Abaka, the UN Independent Expert on the Situation of Human Rights, Technical Cooperation and Advisory Services in Liberia, said in a statement released July 18. (UN News Service)

Nigeria

Some 150,000 children in Niger are set to benefit from a USD 1.2 million donation to the UN children's fund (UNICEF) for school equipment from the charity Dubai Cares. Basic school kits will be supplied to children as part of the initiative, which will help increase the number of children enrolled in 600 schools around the country. In addition, the program will provide classroom furniture for 200 schools and building materials to construct 50 emergency learning centers. (UN News Service)

Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone's President Ernest Bai Koroma has said he will prevent the country becoming a key transit point for the international drugs trade. His comments follow the seizure by police of a plane loaded with cocaine at an airport outside the capital. The plane, which was abandoned on the runway, was carrying a 600 kg cargo, worth an estimated USD 54 million. Latin American drugs cartels are using West Africa as a transit point to smuggle cocaine to Europe, the UN says. But with help from the UN, the cabinet has approved tougher laws on narcotics that are expected to be taken to parliament this week. (BBC)

Somalia

Islamist insurgents in Somalia have launched what appears to be a targeted campaign of violence against foreign aid workers, pushing the already war-torn nation toward a full-scale famine, UN officials and observers warn. The warnings come amid fresh violence that has left many civilians dead in Mogadishu, the central battleground between the Western-backed government and armed Islamist militias. The Islamist insurgents have long attacked foreigners working inside Somalia. But the recent spate of violence suggests the attacks have now coalesced into a deliberate terror campaign, The International Herald Tribune reports. (CS Monitor)

South Africa

South African police have forcefully removed hundreds of immigrants from temporary shelters where they had taken refuge from xenophobic attacks. Authorities say the immigrants, who were taken to a repatriation center in Johannesburg, had not registered with the home affairs department. They now face deportation to their home countries, officials said. More than 60 immigrants were killed and tens of thousands more fled during the attacks against foreigners in May. (BBC)

Sudan

President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, in a show of defiance, made his first visit to Darfur on July 23 since the International Criminal Court prosecutor accused him of genocide and war crimes and sought his arrest. Dancing to traditional music and chanting Islamic slogans, Bashir addressed thousands of Darfuris in the regional capital el-Fasher, his promises of development and peace drawing cheers from onlookers who surged forward to get closer to him. Promising more schools, universities, water projects and roads, Bashir said Darfur would also soon be connected to the national electricity grid, ending constant problems with power blackouts. (Reuters)

Tanzania

Twenty-five people with albinism have been murdered in Tanzania since March, a BBC investigation has found. Albinos are targeted for body parts that are used in witchcraft, and killings continue despite government efforts to stamp out the grisly practice, the BBC's Karen Allen says. Winifrida Rutahiro (2nd left) says she is now scared even to leave her house. Once, albinos used to seek shelter from the sun. Now they have gone into hiding simply to survive, after a series of killings linked to witchcraft. In Tanzania, 25 albinos have been killed in the past year. (BBC)

Zimbabwe

The rival claimants to victory in Zimbabwe's widely criticized presidential elections - Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai - have agreed to immediately begin intensive talks aimed at establishing a "new government." At their first meeting in more than a decade, Zimbabwe's president and the leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change yesterday signed a five-page "memorandum of understanding" that envisages a fortnight of secret talks by representatives dealing with an array of issues from political violence against the opposition to constitutional reform.
Global trade talks began a third day on July 23 after emerging economies such as Brazil and South Africa said a US offer to cut its farm subsidies was not enough to justify reciprocal moves by them. Without a breakthrough in the coming days, the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Doha negotiations risk further years of delay. On July 22, the United States said it was ready to cut its annual ceiling on trade-distorting farm subsidies to USD 15 billion -- a level lower than its spending in seven of the last 10 years -- in order to kick-start the talks. But India, Brazil and other big developing countries said Washington had to make deeper cuts before they would offer concessions of their own because the ceiling represented virtually double the level of US farm subsidies last year.

The EU began crucial global trade talks July 21 with an offer of reducing its farm tariffs by 60 percent - the highest figure it has yet offered - in a challenge to developing countries to make concessions. The offer from the European Trade Commissioner, Peter Mandelson, was intended to spark several days of vital discussions on the stalled trade round, begun seven years ago. Until now, the EU has offered a maximum of 54 percent tariff reductions, but Mandelson's spokesman, Peter Power, said the higher figure could be achieved by including a range of tropical products.

Fourteen states have been selected as the first developing country members of an innovative partnership and international financing mechanism to combat tropical deforestation and climate change. The 14 developing countries include six in Africa (the DRC Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar); five in Latin America (Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guyana, Mexico, Panama); and three in Asia (Nepal, Lao PDR, and Vietnam). They will receive initial funding from the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), an innovative approach to financing efforts to combat climate change. The FCPF aims to reduce deforestation and forest degradation by compensating developing countries for greenhouse gas emission reductions. The 14 tropical and sub-tropical countries will receive grant support as they build their capacity for REDD and tap into future systems of positive incentives for REDD.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said on July 22 that central banks in emerging were moving too slowly to combat the threat of oil and food inflation, which it warned seemed to be seeping into the broader economies of the region. It said timely action by policy makers was needed to maintain emerging 's healthy growth rate, which it forecast at 7.6 percent for both this year and next, otherwise the region risked a damaging upward spiral of wages and prices. In its latest Asia Economic Monitor report, the Manila-based lender warned that while previous food price surges were “cyclical and temporary," the higher prices now being seen were caused by permanent changes.

Foreign ministers of the 10 ASEAN nations and their counterparts from , and other key dialogue partners agreed Tuesday on the need to improve crop productivity in the region to overcome the looming food crisis and create a mechanism to deal with rapidly growing energy consumption amid soaring fuel prices. They agreed to launch a USD 3 million ASEAN-plus-three Cooperation Fund, in line with plans endorsed by the nations' leaders last November under the 2nd Joint Statement on East Asia Cooperation, the official said. The fund will finance cooperation in such fields as politics and national security, business and finance, energy and the environment, and social development as stipulated under the 10-year guideline.

The World Bank (IBRD) for the first time has disbursed a loan in one of Africa's local currencies The 58.2 million South African Rand (ZAR) loan is to support the Government of Namibia in its educational improvement program. The South African and Namibian currencies are equivalent. The transaction is part of the World Bank's ongoing efforts to respond to requests from its borrowing member countries to provide flexible financial products in support of their risk management objectives.“This is particularly the case in Middle Income Countries, like Namibia, which are looking for additional flexibility from the World Bank in terms of lending instruments. Borrowing in Rand represents a lower risk for the country," said Mmantsetsa Marope, World Bank Team Leader for the Namibia lending operation. The loan was possible thorough a conversion of the originally dollar denominated USD 7.5 million loan which took place on July 15, 2008 and is the first time the World Bank has provided a Rand-denominated financing to any country.

International aid workers and peacekeepers in the troubled Sudan region of Darfur are at risk after the indictment against President Omar Hassan al-Bashir for war crimes, his adviser said on July 22. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has sought an arrest warrant for Bashir for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity which rights groups have hailed but some analysts warned could derail the fragile peace process in the country. Bona Malwal said if an arrest warrant was issued, one of the next casualties would be international peacekeeping operations in Darfur. (Reuters)

Meanwhile, Sudan has agreed to try anyone it suspects of crimes in Darfur in Sudanese courts and will allow the UN, African Union and Arab League to follow the proceedings, an Arab League official said on July 22. The move appeared aimed am defusing a crisis over a decision by the ICC prosecutor to seek an arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. But it would be up to Sudan to decide who to try, and Arab League official Hesham Youssef could not say if two Sudanese officials indicted by the ICC last year would face charges. (Reuters)

The WHO has urged Asian countries to take action against the growing threat of drug-resistant tuberculosis, warning that even more virulent forms of the disease could spread if they fail to do so. WHO said many Asian countries lack adequate laboratory facilities to detect multidrug-resistant TB, and only 1 percent of the estimated 150,000 people infected with the disease in East Asia and the Pacific are receiving appropriate treatment. "No country in the region is rushing to fight multidrug-resistant TB," said Dr. Pieter Van Maaren, WHO's Western Pacific regional adviser for tuberculosis . He said Asian leaders "need to wake up and realize what is at risk. This is a disease that you can transmit in a cough to your children."

Researchers in South Africa are investigating whether taking AIDS drugs daily will prevent infections among gay and bisexual men, in the latest effort to combat the epidemic. In a study launched on July 22, researchers want to find out whether antiretroviral drugs normally used by people already carrying the HIV virus could protect those at higher risk of infection, a concept referred to as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The study targets men who have sex with other men because they have been found to be at higher risk of HIV infection than other sexual groups.

The UN food agency says it urgently needs USD 222 million to avert a major food crisis in Ethiopia, where millions are struggling to cope with drought and high prices. The Ethiopian government and the United Nations estimate that 4.6 million people in the Horn of Africa country will need emergency food aid to tide them through to the next harvest in November, Reuters reported. Another 5.7 million who receive food and cash for work under a regular welfare scheme live in areas where drought is biting and need extra help.

Drought, conflict, hyperinflation, high food and fuel prices, the weakness of the Somali shilling and a succession of poor harvests have increased the number of people needing food and other assistance to 2.6 million - up 40 percent from January. Mark Bowden, the UN resident and humanitarian coordinator for Somalia, warned July 22 that "we are months before a major crisis" as the situation was likely to deteriorate further, potentially affecting 3.5 million, or half the total population. Bowden said that it was the responsibility of the humanitarian community to provide assistance and seek ways to address the crisis.
This is coming on the heels of present development in South Africa where many of our beloved young people seeking for asylum have been converted into object of caricature on the streets of South Africa. Remember in the first place, that if all things were equal these guys would not have had business over there. It is the macabre beatings of our political drums and Maradonic looting of our Leaders that raped not only our economy but also the very hope of the people that drove these folks to despair. It is our right, obligation and turn to serve this generation of young Nigerians by engaging our Government via policies on this recent development.

what if i am the one or you that is impoverished out there on the streets of South Africa. There is something positive young people can do to protect the interests of our folks out there.

How internet affected the writing community

Internet simply means explore beyond reality. It is the writers' power to do much in this innovative Age.On the advent of the internet, writers World over received an unlimited power to do much and unlimited access to treasury of profound information across the globe. The internet presents the writer with a real world where to showcase his talents and possibly help him horn his raw and sublimed skills. The writer have the privilege to vet through several works of great writers of distinguished profile of achievement. This alone is a great advantage as the individual writers world over have common community to share with one another ideas, philosophy, culture and methods to upgrade the image of the profession globally.Such was not possibly just some few years back.

The internet glows with parades of online publishers of varying pedigree in different departments of professional writing. This simply means a manuscript can be proof- read and get published the same day online. This was not possible some few years behind. I remember having to leave many of my works to die a natural death in the hands of several analogue publishers. The cost of production was a whooping sum that as undergraduate i could not afford the expenditure. You could even tell better from your own version of experience. But just surf the net today, you will not only get a good publisher also a specialist in publication and sale of e-products.This make me personally to brand the internet; 'total experience plaza'.

The internet has dissolved the physical boundaries that separate Nations of the World and reducing the vast expansive space to a global village. The speech delivered by Mr President George.W.Bush is being watched at real time by Mandela in Far away South Africa,Olesegun watched it at the same time in the sub-Sahara west Africa -Nigeria and so did others in different parts of the World at real time of the broadcast. The same is the writers e-products circulate the global at real time and inflating his bank account even when he is fast asleep in the comfort of his home.Kudos to the great avatar- Internet!

The internet presents equal opportunities to writers from all works of life irrespective of one geographical location.A common market place for all, published materials at a cost effective price and minimum risk undertaken and maximizes huge profit for the info-prenuer.This is gallant stride to excellence for writers of this generation.March forward dear comrades and go beyond reality! Internet is here !

Government should Monitor the internet and abhor further Taxation

To ask the government to begin to collect tax for the use of the internet is like asking the same government to begin to take tax from individual for the volume of air/oxygen one breath per second. I will like to dismiss this motion as the greatest joke and most callous motion of this century. It is right to think of utilizing the population index of the internet, but in the actual sense of it, it is like charging oneself for eating food on your own table. Every activity of today world order is on the internet. All of us are hook up to the internet and come to think of the importance of this avatar in the business world one will need to think twice before subscribing to this odious opinion. The government should monitor the use of the internet but should not collect additional charges for use from individual in whatever disguise. Already citizens are paying for such directly or indirectly via the ISP Providers.

Every user of the internet usually pays for it directly or indirectly, asking the government to collect tax from users is a duplication of effect and an outright infringement of the fundamental right of the citizens. The economic matrix of the day will not get any better for the revenue generated from such in inhuman taxation. There are many things that the government is already taking taxes of various magnitudes and significance. The internet is here to oil the global economy from multifaceted frontier. The internet presently accounts for the record breaking efficiency of both the government and the private entities. The advent of internet has to a large extent affected every aspect of man’s activity in this ontological void-planet earth. It literally collapsed the physical boundaries that ones divided us apart into various cultural, socio-political and racial backgrounds. To attempt collecting tax for any service of the internet after charges have been taking directly or indirectly will be greatest undoing of our time.

I will rather suggest here that a slight increase be charge ISP Providers to augment for the revenue generated from other sectors of the global economy. More so, this need be done in such a way that the final consumers of the internet services will not face hiccups of some sort on the attempt to meet up financially. It is also expedient now for the government to rather get more attuned on the internet general governance in order to foster expected security of its users as new dimension of crime is setting in gradually. The revolution of the internet cuts across various paradigms of human affairs and as such it will not be out of place to suggest that some miscreant will be out to devise ways to take undue advantage of the unsuspecting teeming users of the internet. It should be cleverly stated that securities of the internet have much more impact on the world economy than securing the fiat to tax individual using the internet. It is crystal clear to everybody and must not be compromise for any reason.

Furthermore, lets not forget that one of the major setback of our present day economy globally is poverty which have kept the better part of the world total population in the digital divide and in total fiasco. To attempt charging extra tax on the use of internet is a gross departure from the United Nations Millennium Development Goal Number One: ‘Eradication of extreme hunger and poverty’ by 2015 and the under-developed Nations of the world will be further pus into obscurity. This will project the greatest for man on this planet as crime will assume the other the day. There will be wars unending and this will surely have a ripple effect on man. It will mess up the rest seven Goals of the MDGs of the United Nation. The population of the world in the digital divide needs to be attended to and this should be the heartbeat of the government instead of thinking how to manipulate the global population of internet users to record economic index jump amidst this mortal tsunamis greeting us all on the bare face.
Life is all about discovery of what you need so much that is in someone else disposal. God deliberately made it that way so that he can teach you to rightly associate with others who invariably have something to contribute to your making. A tree cannot make a forest.
Five senses.....a wired Hard-Disk Within....

The mind is not a visible entity of the Human embodiement. It houses the thinking Faculty of the man. A Natural man operates from five dimensional Faculties -representing the five senses of a Human being . This includes the :

# SENSE OF SIGHT

# SENSE OF TOUCH

# SENSE OF HEARING

# SENSE OF THIRST

# SENSE OF SMELL

These five operational senses tends to build the innate capacity for performance of man without him knowing it. Virtually, everything the man does has 80% of it influenced directly from these faculties. This therefore, makes an individual to go about with a wired hard-disk placed right on the inside of him detecting what to do , when to do , where to do,and etecetra. This however does not gaurantee performance and fruitfulness of the individual. Rather, compels the man gradually but surely to comform with the culture of limitation in his enviroment . At this , the bulk of creativity , insight, ideas to improve on his condition ,and probably upgrade his status quo becomes disabled. Some people goes through Life complaining , losing every battle of opportunity, rolling like a stone but gathering no muds. Watch out if you are not limited in life by this avatar.

Man The Enigma Of Creation

Man in the actual sense is an Enigma of creation. He is loaded with bunch of phenomena. He is predictable to the level of characteristics traits he exhibits, but his complexities is the function of his unseen and unexhibited traits. Therefore, he seems to unravel unique personality in the face of different circumstances of life, and, depending on its nature and magnitude respectively. The life of a man is not consist in the abundance of richies he possess posited the Holy Book. Then, what actually constitute the life of man?, a decent meaning is inevitable? Is it the type of certificate he has, the number of sex partners he has, the type physique he has, the number of places he has been to,the colour of his skin, his geographical location, ? Is it the fleet of cars he has , the level of his exposure, the batch of friends he keeps, his religion or social polarity? The list is inexhausive. All these tends to detect to the little minds, that that is what makes up a man's life. FALLACY !!! Not at all! What
makes up a man a distinguished personality in the pragmatic sense is the level of service he renders/rendered to humanity.

Some folks in the attempt to pacify their selfish aggrandisement has added up piles of nomeclature to their names. But , they hardily tell the difference beetween the 'title' and the 'tax' attached therein. This remind me to say; ' if all the titles of men were to be backed up by its gravitational equivalence in the apron of its 'tax', the whole society would had been a world of unimaginable fantasy'. Like Philip Emeagwali's excerpt: 'the story is stronger that the warrior'. The story begets life to the reader, but the warrior bargain for life'. Life to them that are living is expensive, a biological liability of some sort imposed upon by Mother Nature.

Life has been a pack of awesome experience for me on this ontological void - planet Earth. I have been able to rise from mediocrity to Excellence.I have taken a decision to survive all odds against me, and invariably prepare to sumersault every grand gimmickery to keep me down in the gutters of life. All i need is the Divine surpport of the Almighty and the right wisdom to grow above the wired status quo against this background. Some say he is too handsome.but i prefered to be too Godsome.Others says he is a scholartic pre-eminence, an enigma of the creation of 21st century, called to serve humanity in the apparell of Great King Solomon of the blessed memory , etc. Whatever the case might be i have squad up my shoulders for a showdown with odds of life.I have discovered that whatever a man eats also eats him up too. Also the pasture a man feeds from can serve as a good yardstick to predict his future. For the resource must of necessity reflect the image of its source.

Life generally does not respond positively to stagnation, but to movement forword in the right direction. What you tag right direction is subject to scrutiny and criticism by different schools of thoughts. To one perspective it is worst direction, and to another ; it has no meaning of any sort. The problem of man in this ontological void is the mystery of his metality. Everything good or bad, seen or unseen, originates from his metalphysical parlance.
Worry, stress, anger, fear, depression, insomnia, self-doubt, nervousness. These are some of the problems that can plague our every day lives, making us unhappy and sick. Since each day lost to these ills cannot be replaced, we ought to be doing something about it.

Always consult your family physician and other medical professionals if your health is at risk. There may be a serious ailment that can only be determined by a qualified medical person. Please read the disclaimer page.

In the area of self-help there are many ways that we may improve our lives. These ideas have been written and rewritten by great thinkers of the past and best-selling authors of today. Often words written two thousand years ago are more effective than words written today, perhaps because they have withstood the test of time.

These ideas are easy enough to understand, but more difficult to practice. A good place to start is the self-help or self-improvement section of your public library or bookstore. Start with the best sellers, read many, reread the better ones, highlight the best phrases, and take notes. Make good thinking and good feeling a habit for every day. As a prelude, these pages contain most of the ideas in brief format.

Niger/Delta crisis......Issue 1

The unfolding events of the Niger/Delta crisis represents both challenges for President YaruDua regime and opportunities to procuring lasting solutions to the violence ridden region as well as serious threats to the continuity of the corporate Nigerian state.Nigeria is presently playing a significant role in the OPEC oil Block and with unrest in the Gulf of Guinea, Nigeria crude oil supply have risen to an incredible height that she has recorded a landmark profit from the oil Sector in the recent time. The PUNCH Newspaper 12th-18th, 2008 submitted that Nigeria record huge profit to the tune of $55bn just last year. But several international agencies fielded that Nigerians are still berthing in institutionalized poverty anointed by corruption of their public officers.

The 2008 budget, the first by the Yarudua Administration, shows the hype on dependence of the oil sector and paralleled out how fragile the Nigerian State stand on lone leg driven economy. Every other sector of the economy is in a sorry state, even, the international community that depends so much on the Nigerian Oil supply are having sleepless night as the time-bomb in the Niger/Delta keep ticking away in frustration or blank neglect. Imagine a total of N1,986 trillion, 80% is coming from the oil sector of the total budget. Someone already declared that this great black populous Nation is a 'fragile state'... as insensitivity to those things that will trigger a National turmoil is inevitable should rain of bullets and missiles continue in the very region producing this expected projection .

The counter play of events in the Nation have majors repercussions in the entire Gulf of Guinea. Little wonder why the USA military are embarking on strategic synergistic mission under the umberalla of AFRICOM. This is a significant indicator that the Oil producing region of the country is wielding unmatchable influence in the international oil market. The AFRICOM is here to help foster peace around the West Sub-Sahara with major emphasis on Nigeria. This alone should inform the position and interest of the Nigerian Federal Government towards working out a sustainable master plan - development formula for the region. The international implications of the volatility of Nigeria's oil rich region is perceive in its definite influence on the international oil market.

The hike in the oil price in December, 2007 hit the $100 mark making Nigeria go home celebrating, but this does not have a direct correlation to the improvement of Standard of living of the oil producing communities. No wonder the violence somehow assumed a new order of dealing with the perceived exploiters/destroyers of these communities. The greater percentage of man power, potentials and energies trapped down by this socio-political conundrum is the young people at the grassroots. Should we close our eyes and watch with fever and frustration while our own friends disadvantaged by geographical positioning suffer to death?......... watch out next issue on this:

what to do in a recession bound Economy

The economic matrix of any society is always dependent on the prevailing circumstances at the corner. In a recession bound economy, it is always advisable for civil servants to think twice on the issue of what career to hinge ones hope on. Expert advise that individuals should aspire to shift into recession-proof quadrant of the economy. Workers should find a way to make themselves indispensable for their employer as to secure their jobs by upgrading career portfolio. It is most advisable to build up new skills that can stand the adverse economy. This is because during recession companies are looking for solution to parachute their profit and retain their market niche so, anyone who can proffer a solution is a good bet for this harsh economy.

Back here in Nigeria where the economy has recorded an outstanding achievement in the macro-economy sector, yet National food production have dropped by 25% which is a combative threat to the growing economy. The question remain, when exactly will the resounding jump in the macro economy reflect on the standard of living of the people. This index is a vindictive indicator of recession in view. Now the question remain how can this be corrected or managed in the long run. We need an economy the can impact positively on the citizenry on the country. This is a fight that our Leaders must be prepared to combat with every seeming tools and strategy, I have always maintain that every tragedy is a strategy in disguise. Can anyone decode exactly this and rise up to the challenge at the moment.

Advent of Child Labour

Child labor is not a concept that metamorphosed from the tiny space but a syndrome we witness daily in our society that is gaining prominence with time. It has been in practice in some developing or under-developed society where a couple give to birth up to nine or twelve children without a stable source of income daily or monthly so, the children are force to carter for themselves at a very tender age. In most cases, the parents involve the children directly or indirectly to act as assist in the execution of certain labor that will generate income at the end of the day. This is a mortal crime against Mother Nature.

Most of these couples in the under-developed States probably went into marital union with sole objectives to generate extra Labor force to assist in the process of survival. In the advanced Nations of the world things are quite different, rather certain agents helps to facilitate an indecent trade of Human trafficking from the poor developing Nations . The victims are usually kidnapped or deceived into the deal that will later turn out to be child labor. Most of the victims are usually uneducated. The United Nations in the article 32 of the Human Right of the child stated categorically:

'States Parties recognize the right of the child to be protected from economic exploitation and from performing any work that is likely to be hazardous or to interfere with the child's education, or to be harmful to the child's health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development'

In some parts of the world it is considered exploitative and inappropriate for an employer to engage a child of certain age description to work regardless of the child's expertise and willingness to work. It is usually enshrine in every Nation's constitution that a child of certain age bracket should be exempted from physically- demanding jobs. But , in the average family in the under-developed Nations of the world where subsistence agricultural farming is the only source of survival, parents involves their kids in the farming activity.

More so, in the warring nations children are recruited to serve in the same force as their own fathers or even elder ones. This is usually done against the wish of these little ones. The greater victims or casualties or wars in developing Nations are the children. When will this drudgery stop? when will man actually attain the full age of civilization. Could you imagine a child of 9 or 11 serving as child soldier in the creek of Africa or Asia while his colleagues in real life are taking tea in an air-conditioned classroom apartment in the United State of America.Who should be blamed for this ?

It is time the Ngos, Civil societies, Military and Heads of States of Nations of the world rise up to fight this monster and eradicate such practices permanently in this sane century.

Hi Friends, what are you planning for the end of the year, 2007. I have already prepared so much to impact young People between age 13 - to - 20. I have designed a curriculum of activities for this group come year 2008. I just published a book captioned: " MOTIVATION- SUCCESS HAND BOOK FOR TEENS".It is an interesting book aimed to spur the young minds into positive actions. The book also parades provocative thoughts to ginger the young minds to embrace information and communication technologies,(ICTs), and strive to build global competitiveness in their career pursuit. Just help make recommendation for this book to teens' group, organization or ministry. It is my unique contribution to this generation..My email address: princefelixx@yahoo.com and GSM:

Information and communication technologies for development is a password to join the league of the advanced Nations of the world. African Nations are trapped in the digital divide with Nigeria in particular on the very bad side of this divide. It is no gainsaying that nearly 65%-75% of the total population of Nigerian youth are yet to update there diaries with the present innovation on this platform. Before you attempt to accuse me of bluntness or short-sightedness in this regard, go to the nearby village where we have good number of young people working as farmers, and ask them anything they know about ICT4D. You will be embarrassed at the reply. You cannot judge the hike of awareness base on the population of young people residence in the metropolitan cities of the country. Even in the cities not all young people can tell about internet or what exactly the computer can do, other than serving few bandits as a defrauding machine..

An average graduate in the public sector still go back to enroll for computer lessons after school while same could have been cleverly sandwiched in the curriculum design of every course. Some schools ,that is, both primary and tertiary institutions are under-equipped with modern e-learning facilities. Those who are even tagged:'computer literates are yet to prove there onion in the ability to impact others around them. Some of these bunch also involve themselves in corrupt practices over the net. You can believe that many so called 419ers are yet to embrace the fact today that one's IP CODE is recorded online while surfing the net . If they had this knowledge i strongly believe they will not sell a birth right of this magnitude cheaply on the altar of self aggrandizement. ICT4D presents to those in the 'Digital Divide' a birthright (equal opportunities ) to square up shoulder-to shoulder with those advanced Nations of the world. But daily they keep defrauding foreigners online in the quest for hard currency. I may blame this negative development on height of poverty in this region. This is no attempt to make advocate for the Dare Devil Fraudsters.

Can you believe that as at the time of packeting this material PayPal does not accept Nigerians and host of other online outfits that would have served as source of resourceful relationships as well as businesses to generate revenues. I am not bleeding at heart for the now but for the generation behind us whose birthright is slaughtered on the altar of selfishness. I therefore call on all stakeholders, Captains of conglomerates, Public service officers and all other concerned Authorities to join force together to array this leviathans before our little world come crashing upon one day.

The government can come up with the idea to set up Monitoring Teams to inspect Cybercafes regularly night and day. Or can even stop outrightly anything like all-night browsing. I am not trying to heap the blame on the internet rats as they are called rather a sustainable effort or structure be put together by the government to ameliorate the increase on the incidence of cybercrimes. Government can even decide to close down all private cybercafes and build information centers at least Four in every city across the entire country which will be duly managed by the Government. In places like Ghana and some of our sister Nations cyber houses are managed by the Government, little wonder lowest ebb of cyber crime in these countries.

I want the forth coming event of ICT4D awareness in the country to address the issues raise so far from this vantage point. I am available to serve as a resource person should i be invited on that status to speak in this regard at this epoch-making event. Please Help Nigeria now !
