Is it Entirely Faith ( Fideism) or Is it Entirely Reason (natural theology)...
This is one of the Initial Questions which we encounter when we enter in the field of Philosophy of Religion,,

There have been different School of Thought with in Religious people in answering this Question,,
Efforts have been done in Weakening of Reason as in “Critic of Pure Reason” by Immuel Kant and Heavy Arguments were given Relying only on Faith like Pascal Wagner and Imam Ghazali.,,
Rise of Reason was preached by St Thomas Aquinas as in his “Summa Theologiae” and list of Muslim and other religious dialectal theologists,
Few Mixed arguments given by Allama Iqbal in “Reconstruction of thoughts in Islam”

I try to put my point of View on it,,

REASON:

Reason can never be established until we accept the authenticity of Knowledge along with its Sources. By Criticizing Knowledge and its sources It will end in Either Nihilism or Fideism,,
If Sources of Truth are corrupted or have disability to Establish the Truth then Truth can never be achieved,, this will end in nihilism,,, which will end in the Death of Religion,, Nietzsche said " Religion is Dead,, God is Dead" by having this nihilistic Approach. This is also Anti Religious Behavior which we frequently find in religious people,,,,
Sources of Knowledge even with all of their limitations are reliable to establish the Truth. All the discipline of knowledge can be trusted on these Sources,,
I have never been in Opposition of the Existence of Faith Entirely like ‘Natural Theologists’,, they claim that "everything is understandable or conceivable by Reason alone, No Faith is required”. I favor the Necessity of Faith like Pascal writes in ‘Pensees’,“If we submit everything to reason,our religion will have no mysterious or supernatural element”.Relying purely on Reason destroys the Concept of Revelations,, Revelation clearly proposes certain truths which might never have been discovered by reason unaided, although they are not of themselves inaccessible to reason.

I maintain that Reason will be the Check on Revelations,, Scrutinization of Revelations by Reason goes in favor of Religion,,, and As the Light of Truth from Reason will show us what to have Faith in..

FAITH:

In theology Faith is usually defined "believing without Reason",,Many Religions in the World Claim to Stand only on Faith,,, Either they fail to give the reason OR avoid OR are not interested in Reasoning,, they Maintain the Position that their Faith,,intuition Spirituality is sufficient enough to Prove their Claim ( Religion),
Pascal Beautifully Said "The Heart knows the Reasons which reasons not know of" sounds very beautiful but to build the Tower of Religion entire only on Faith,,I have objection on it,,
ISLAM can not stand on Fideism ( only on Faith),, The Entire building of the Religion based on Fideism can be perished in one question
"If faith is the only way to know the truth of God, how are we to know which God to have faith in"
Deprived of reason, faith has stressed feeling and experience, and so run the risk of no longer being a universal proposition. It is an illusion to think that faith, tied to weak reasoning, might be more penetrating; on the contrary, faith then runs the grave risk of withering into myth or superstition. It is Reason which Differentiates between Faith and myth or Superstition..

CONCLUSION:

Two Great Religions ISLAM and Christianity,, which encircle more than 50% of the population of the world,,Majority of Scholars in them ( except few) always forced the importance of Reason with Faith,, Reason has always been their way to Reach the Faith,
It is Either by ignorant People who claim to be religious but are not aware of Knowledge or by Arrogant Anti Religious People who are in constant struggle of giving the impression that foundation of religion is very weak as it is Only Faith and no reason at all,

" Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth;" (Bible)

John Pope Paul II says in his letter to all churches,,
"This is why I make this strong and insistent appeal — not, I trust, untimely — that faith and philosophy recover the profound unity which allows them to stand in harmony with their nature without compromising their mutual autonomy. The parrhesia of faith must be matched by the boldness of reason."

Note: I don’t doubt the Sincerity of Ghazali,Pascal all those religious people who gave more importance to Faith and took Reason as very narrow and limited,,It was all in their good intention in defense of Religion,,

In Last I have Faith that When the Light of Truth by Reason will Shine,,, The beauty of ISLAM will catch the sight of every one,,Perfection of ISLAM will be revealed,,

What about the things which religion Claims and are not logical are unscientific...

Many Religious people deny the Second thing also,, they say it should not be logical reason to believe as logic and science keep on changing...

I talk on Logic and Science differently as they both are different discipline

SCIENCE..
Religious People Claim that Science keeps on taking U turn,, which mean that the thing which is proved today ,,, can be refuted tomorrow,, or the thing which is unscientific today may be scientific tomorrow,,
scientific theories were once rejected by mainstream scientists and mathematicians of their time as being pseudoscientific, irrational or obviously false. But Now they are Regarded Scientific.. E.g. Big Bang Theory,, Black Hole,, Psychiatry, Electromagnetic Fields, Germ theory of Disease etc,,

So the Changing Attitude of Science can not be used to Check the Religion (which is absolute, no change)
This is the Common Argument by religious people in response of non-Scientific Religious Believes,,,,

If we Agree with then no Religion can be Refuted or proved wrong on Scientific Basis,, as Every Religion will claim that it views may be proved in future if they are not compatible with science today,,, So What about Zakir Naik giving Scientific errors in Bible.

The Answer is that there are not U Turns in Established Science.Scientist are in favor of that fundamentals of science do not change..Not Every Scientific Fact can be proven wrong,, like Heart Pumps the Blood,,, It can never be proven wrong,, Also on the other hand the thing which are falsified by science they can never be proved true in future.So Established Science can be used as a tool to identify the Scientific errors, And The Compatibility in Science and ISLAM is one of the Proof of it validity and Truth

LOGIC:
Muslim Scholars Maintain the Claim that "Prophets never Claim any thing illogical,, they preach the logical things or SUpra Logical ( beyond Logic) " ( Book : Aqliyaatay Ibnay Taimiya) the Supra Logical thing can not be Proven illogical,,,

So Logic is a Very important tool and In ISLAM nothing is illogical,,, there are few things in ISLAM which we can not prove according to modern logic but that does not make them in illogical,, it puts them in Ambiguity ( which Islamic Scholars call Beyond Logical)...
Also this Shows the Need of the Prophets.. who tells us the things beyond our sense and logic ( not Illogical),,,,

NOTE: I don’t Maintain the Position that RELIGION IS only Logic and Science and other Branches of Knowledge which are easily perceivable by Humans,,,I agree it is more than this,,, but the True Religion will never Go against the Common Sense , Logic , Science and Knowledge,,,

This is the Way to Judge which Religion is Right and which is Wrong,,,

Many of My Friends they Try to Prove Science and Logic incomplete to understand the Reality of Religion,,, Even if they are successful in proving the limits of science and reasoning still they will be unsuccessful in falsifying other religions,, Because these are their Tools to prove other religions wrong by showing contradictions and flaws,, So by Proving Science and Logic Wrong they are not only proving their Religion right but they are proving other religions also correct,,which is against their religion,,,This Approach is not Better way,,
