I just wanted to inform you that registration for VIMUN has started. You can find the online registration form on the website of www.vimun.at under Admissions at the very bottom where a link will take you there.

Just to give you a brief overview of the event I will provide with some details below.

This year's VIMUN will be 10th VIMUN. At the same time we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Headquarter in Vienna.

VIMUN is a UN simulation conference where young people between the age 18 and 35 will get the possibility to play the roles of diplomats in a simulation of UN agencies like the Security Council, the Commission on Human Rights, the International Labour Organization.

Topics that will be covered by VIMUN include Child Trafficking, Truth Commissions, Youth Employment and Technology Transfer to Developing Countries.

All topics will be inter-linked and will give participants the opportunity of interacting and thinking in a new and creative way.

Consequently, VIMUN will also pay tribute major events taking place this year. The Year to Commemorate the Slave Trade will be paid attention to as well as the Youth Employment Summit and the International Youth Parliament.

The organizers of VIMUN, the United Nations Youth and Student Association of Austria, hope that VIMUN 2004 will become an exciting event where people from all over the world are able to share their opinions and thoughts.

And me myself, Secretary General, will be looking forward with excitment to meet you all at VIMUN 2004

With warmest regards
This year is the Year of Freshwater. I would search for discussion platforms for the youth (age 18 to 25) on the internet. I would appreciate if people could sent me information on that.
There are some internet sites dealing with water but all online forums seem to have not been used for a while or are not suitable for young people.
Thanks to everybody for his/her cooperation.

Goal:

One goal of the Vienna International Community on Sustainable Development is the creation of a global network within the field of sustainable development in particular in renewable energy technologies.

Experience:

With extensive experience in the field of renewable energy sources and the implementation of projects VICOSD is able to provide the knowledge and know how for others that are interested in this field.

Network:

In order to coordinate activities most effectively a global network in this respect is important. The platform of takingitglobal provides VICOSD with access to a high number of young people ready to take action for change.

Result:

The result will be the closing of the knowledge gap regarding the renewable energy field and the fact that projects will be implemented most effectively and with least bureaucratic efforts in order to keep input low and output high. With contact partners in various countries project implementation will become easier.
By approaching young people in this respect actions will become more sustainable in the longrun.
