I have been on contract with TIG since October, so i have been working 2-3 days a week. The following is a list of projects I had been working on during October and November.

-Ecards - This section was initially deveoped in teh summer but fully completed recently. Thanks to the help of Martin and Mike! So far we have about 16 submissions, and 60 cards sent!

-Icubed - I revamped the zine, and brought it into the TIG interface.

Cultivating Peace Edits. This is a project i initally took on when Martin went to YES. I thought it was over after i completed the edits. But apparently it never ends. I'd like to think they are a constant pinching, right under your arm, waiting until you say uncle. But no hard feelings :)

- Global Gallery - Created the look and feel over the summer. During the course of october, i had completed a written proposal of what the ideal gallery would incorporate. I then had a meeting with whoever could come, Jarra, Vittoria, and Tvrtko were present. And gave feedback. I think the meet went off somewhere in the future, but i left it feeling really sad, rather then excited. I'm currently working on a written piece that will explain the realistic needs of the Gallery as it stands in order for the self sustainability and ease of submission to be more present. The 3 key areas to work on are:
1. Thumbnail resize tool
2. Submission process (revamp)
3. Creating a Tab for "my Gallery" to manage exsiting art pieces (edit/delete) as well as add additional peices to their exhibit - create and exhibit etc.

- Grants - Nick and I sat down one day and we went and looked for possible funding for the Gallery, as well as other initiatives. From this, i'm working on the Global Gallery VIsion, Mission, purpose and future, as well as the path to get there.

- Barcelona 2004 - this is an exciting event! Jennifer and I will be sitting down on the 3rd of december to plan out a proposal fully and get this ball moving in the right direction.

- Panel - Earlier, i spoke on a panel with Mike, Martin and Jennifer to a room full of marketing people questioning us on the effective ways to market to youth. Jen had a brilliant idea - have youth work with the marketing team, tap into their ideas, but giving them an internship opportunity, job opp...and treating them like equals.

- Currently working on UPIA - website. It has been delayed 2 weeks. so the eta will be mid december.

- Currently working on a site for Jason Dorsey - design phase in effect. Looking to be completed come mid december late december depending if timelines are kept.

Aside from the 2-3 days at TIG, i've also been doing small freelance projects. It's been busy.

This seems like an accurate summary to date. I'd like to that Outlook "tasks" for giving me the memory i wouldn't otherwise have :) As well as TIG, for all the support.

But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don't you think? So what is behind the story?

breaking through all the cultural, religious and personal differences, do you see the human value of your neighbour?

Do you take time each and everyday to show someone that they have value, that they are needed, wanted, more then they thought they were, to show them how to look inside to see how valuable they are to themselves and others?

if not - why? what's stopping you? have you seen? have you been shown? do you want to be shown?

hmmm

do you want to be shown - it's frightening. becuase then you become comfortable and confident in spreading the same within others. Then you've got to speak, and let people know you care - authentically care not artificially.

anything authentic touches you deeper them emotionless(artificial) words ever could.

I'm excited about all the diverse young people in the streets here in Toronto celebrating what they believe, with passion, enthusiasm and wholeness. that fills me.
Sleep = maybe 10-11 hours in the past 4 nights

I think once this Mag ad is done, i'll sleep a little.

I want to thank everyone that suggested some ad ideas - you are all WONDERFUL and so were the ideas!

I'll be distributing the ad pics tomorrow for some decisions.

The global gallery and e-cards has been on hold for the past 5 days, but i'm so looking forward to start working on them again.. they are my babies ;)

I'm going through a little midlife crisis at the moment - deciding whether to go back to school, or start up my own business...it's alot of thought to be done before july 24th (registration)...the pressures on.

je suis fini.

It started as a good day.
Beautiful spring weather.
and yet as the weather got better throughout the day, the day itself slowly got progressively worse. My hard drive died, and i've noticed to most people it doesn't seem like that big a deal, and really in the grand scheme of things, it isn't that BIG a deal, it's just everything i've been working on since the last time i backed up (about 3 months ago) is on that precious hard drive. Endless hours of work, important files, emails, thoughts, pictures, my music...my music :( whenever i create a song, i record it just to get it down. I don't have a tape recorder so the computer is the closest thing. I don't even remember the songs that were there. One of them was for an upcoming contest, i guess this is a way of saying it wasn't a good one. I got out of the office around 9:30ish after installing some programs, and got home around 10:30ish.
someone's upset that i know, and i think i did something :(
i just found the number for my internet.
i'll clean up my scattered room tomorrow
It's 1am.

I have to give a huge hug and many thanks to Mike though for helping me with my computer issues. He was awesome, totally got me another computer to use until mine is feeling better. He just rocks. And to Martin, for all his help with the workshop tonight and pretty much everything else he helps me with..thank you. I facilitated a HTML workshop tonight, i think it went alright, people learnt and some signed up for the intermediate one as well. Special thanks to Susheela, she came in for the last hour and a bit of the workshop and helped people out that were having issues, she rocks. And last but not least, Maria. She was on top of the workshop like nobody's buisness.She looked out for me, she always does.D it was awesome seeing you today. Thanks for your input at the end of the workshop, i'm glad i could fix your watch for you!

i think i should get to sleep now.
tomorrow is bound to be better.
Illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind,
People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful,
You will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank,
People may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building,
Someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
They may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
People will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
And it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis,
It is between you and God;
It never was between you and them anyway.

Having a BAD DAY?

THE NEXT TIME YOU THINK YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DAY ...PULL THESE UP AND READ THEM

Fire authorities in California found a corpse in a burned out section of forest while assessing the damage done by a forest fire. The deceased male was dressed in a full wet suit, complete with scuba tanks on his back, flippers, and facemask. A post-mortem revealed that the person died not
from burns, but from massive internal injuries. Dental records provided a positive identification. Investigators then set about to determine how a fully clad diver ended up in the middle of a forest fire. It was revealed that on the day of the fire, the person went for a diving trip off the coast some 20 miles from the forest. The fire fighters, seeking to control the fire as quickly as possible, called in a fleet of helicopters with very large dip buckets. Water was dipped from the ocean and then flown to the orest fire and emptied. You guessed it. One minute our diver was making like Flipper in the Pacific, the next he was doing the breast stroke in a fire dip bucket 300 feet in the air. Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.
This article was taken from the California Examiner, March 20, 1998.

STILL THINK YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DAY?
A man was working on his motorcycle on his patio and his wife was in the kitchen. The man was racing the engine on the motorcycle when it accidentally slipped into gear. The man, still holding onto the handlebars, was dragged through the glass patio doors and along with the
motorcycle dumped onto the floor inside the house. The wife, hearing the crash, ran into the dining room and found her husband lying on the floor, cut and bleeding, the motorcycle lying next to him, and the shattered patio door. The wife ran to the phone and summoned the ambulance.
Because they lived on a fairly large hill, the wife went down the several flights of stairs to the street to escort the paramedics to her husband. After the ambulance arrived and transported the man to the hospital, the wife up righted the motorcycle and pushed it outside. Seeing that gas was spilled on the floor, the wife got some paper owels, blotted up the gasoline, and threw the towels in the toilet. The man was treated and released to come
home. Upon arriving home, he looked at the shattered patio door and the damage done to his motorcycle. He became espondent, went to the bathroom, sat down on the toilet and smoked a cigarette. After finishing the cigarette, he flipped it between his legs into the toilet bowl while
seated. The wife, who was in the kitchen, heard the loud explosion and her husband screaming. She ran into the bathroom and found her husband lying on the floor. His trousers had been blown away and he was suffering burns on the buttocks, the back of his legs, and his groin. The wife again ran to the phone to call the ambulance. The very same paramedic crew was dispatched and the wife met them at the street. The paramedics loaded the husband on to the stretcher and began carrying him to the street. While they were going down the stairs to the street accompanied by the wife, one of the paramedics asked the wife how the husband had burned himself. She told them and the paramedics started laughing so hard, one of them slipped and tipped the stretcher, dumping the husband out. He fell down the remaining stairs and broke his arm.
Taken from a Florida Newspaper.

STILL HAVING A BAD DAY? Just remember, it could be worse...
The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska was $80,000. At a special eremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minute later, in full view, a killer whale ate them both.

A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen, shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current she whacked him with a handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in two places. Until that moment he had been happily listening to his Walkman.

Two animal rights protesters were protesting at the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn Germany. Suddenly the pigs, all two thousand of them, escaped through a broken fence and stampeded, trampling the two hapless protesters to death.

Now, your day's not so bad, is it?

i slacked last week in writing a report.

here is the low-down of things to come and things that have gone.

-buisness cards; ready to go
-flyers made for a few workshops
-Monday - meeting with Y House was eventful, Maria and i were excited to see the amount of opportunities there are there for volunteers. Especially getting an expressions workshop to commence their campaign. To be shown in the showcase of their building. Also, getting the side of the building painted with permission by grafite artirts within the house.(spring-summer project) Jen came near the end. Next steps are to follow up and keep the connection.
-WSF, Zine and Global gallery top three priorites for this week.
-Promoting a culture of peace winners to be announced online, and postcard to be made
-Announcement of the Global Gallery's exhibit at the Fashion show " An evening in Red" to call for artwork. Flyer created already, online version needed.
-Connect to your Career - layout, content and functionality to be discussed further with Martin after my initial ideas are completed
-Prepare for my workshop on Wednesday the 20th - Watercolours
-Work with Vanessa on the Youth Reps - TakingITLocal revamp - next week
-Create a TIG poster for all YMCA's to give to Jacqueline on friday. She has a color printer so she will be printing them out. I'm waiting on the sizes. will email to confirm the sizes of them. Looks to be something around the 8x14 or 11x17
-PMS (project Management System) build on the exsiting Illustrator model for friday's meetings
-Contact the Humber Media Studies contact for students who want to do their co-ops recreating the TIG cd rom. I figure about 3 students, 200 hours each should be awesome. There is like 100 hours of footage, and editing will be done on their turf. SO it's a great portfolio piece.

Anything i've forgotten i'm sure i'll remember as soon as i press "Post Update"
I can't explain it. It was a perfect program! I feel they totally got rippped of their gold metal. The olympics is about perfection, and being the best in that sport, how could a team that had an error win gold, and a flawless performance stand second? The judges should not of tied them. It was so evident that they were gold. It's just sad. That was basically their best performance i've ever seen!

Whatever is all i can say. (said in an upset manner)
