"If we want to put an end to war, we need to end it at the point of where it is created each day anew: in our daily living conditions, in the constant stress of mindless and monotonous work, in the methods of profit maximizing and distribution, in offices and factories, in schools and families, in the tragedies of love, in our ideas about being either man or woman, in sexuality and love and in the cages of our professional, social and sensual life which are all far too small.

Do we wish that the youth of the world no longer go to war?
If so, we need a higher aim for life, a life worth living and better opportunities to put the power of the youth into meaningful action."
Dieter Duhm

We invite young peace workers from all over the world, people who want to dedicate their lives to a future worth living, to Tamera. This year there will be three major events:

Youth Future Village - July 18 - August 30, 2009

Young people between the ages 15 and 30 from different cultures and continents will study a realistic utopia during a six week community time. Through art, forum, spiritual work, study, political action and building trust among people, we will work on questions such as:

How will it go on after the breakdown of the imperial systems?
How is changing oneself and changing the world interconnected?
Why are all of our personal issues – revolving around love, partnership, and sexuality – of political significance?
More information at: http://summeruniversity.tamera.org/su09/index.php?id=70

Summer University "Global Grace Village - Creating Models for a Future without War" - July 29 - August 7, 2009

What do future societies which are not based on fear, domination, and violence, but instead built on trust look like? Which kind of technological, ecological, architectural, and social structures will societies, resonating with the cosmic order of life, embody? How will future societies, where children can fully trust their parents again and where lovers never have to leave each other ever again come into being?

A ten day think-tank for a future without war. With Dieter Duhm and Sabine Lichtenfels from Tamera, Portugal; Starhawk, USA; Sami Awad, Palestine; Padre Javier Giraldo, Colombia and many other peace workers.

In the name of GRACE: Pilgrimage Through Portugal - September 27 - October 15, 2009

Led by Sabine Lichtenfels, an international group of pilgrims will take part in an existential community adventure to reconnect with the original dream of the Earth and of humankind. The pilgrimage will begin at the stone circle near Évora, a monument from an ancient peace culture. Pilgrims will walk towards Tamera, a modern peace model in development. This is an invitation to all who seek a connection between political, spiritual and community work.

In the name of all life. For a global thinking, global loving, and global acting.
Test village to be built in Tamera, Portugal

This year, 2009, we want to take the next big step of setting up a "test-field" for the planned TTT-Platform and the SolarVillage, which will be established on a special place within Tamera.

http://www.tamera.org/index.php?id=604L=0

During the first four months of this year, the SolarVillage project group focused on the development of a solid and humane foundation, where trust among the coworkers can continuously go deeper, and increasingly reliable and professional working structures of communication and cohabitation can emerge.

Our next step is the construction of this “test-field” in the current “Valley Village” along the lines of the “African Village” designed by Jürgen Kleinwächter.

Our short-term goal is to set up the “Solar Power Village” technology. This technology creates synergy, is relatively simple to build, and thus represents a valuable and integral part of the overall solar system both ecologically and economically. Our plan is to try it out in practice and improve it in the daily life of the SolarVillage Project Group. This approach follows the basic idea of the SolarVillage concept, that a group of about fifty people will live an experimental life with the new technical components. The core element of the "Solar Power Village", the Energy Power
Greenhouse with the hot-oil kitchen, will be combined with a Scheffler
reflector, parabolic mirror cookers SK14, and solar ovens - all
components of the solar summer kitchen.

Apart from the production of heat for cooking, the hot oil produced in the greenhouse will also drive a Stirling engine that can produce electricity as well as mechanical energy. Later we also plan to integrate O2 combustion (according to the ideas of Horst Wagner) and a biogas system to complement these installations.

This “test-field” project is the next step on the way to developing the SolarVillage: The technology, and the communitarian way of living that we experienced during this recent four-month intensive group time, complement each other to create a single living entity. By autumn we will have tangible results and measured values resulting from this practical experiment, as well as a showcase to demonstrate the combination of these two elements that can be shown to visitors.

In autumn we will also organize a special kind of “Investors' Event” for a select group of people with broad views and financial power. We plan to give an insight into the actual daily life as it will work in and around a SolarVillage, and one goal of the event is to find investors for the continued development of the SolarVillage concept and the TTT-Platform.

Another part of this year's experiment is the integration of the nearby "Valley Garden" into the growing water landscape built in cooperation with the Tamera ecology team under the auspices of permaculture expert and “Rebel farmer” Sepp Holzer.

We kindly invite you to contribute to the manifestation of this experimental living model. The financing of the test field SolarVillage will cost about 73,000 Euro. Donations of any amount are warmly welcome.

We are also very interested in the help of experts who want to participate in the practical construction and development of this experiment. We ask those interested to contact us for further information.
Global Grace Village - Creating Models for a Future without War
Tamera Summer University - 29th July - 07th August 09

Survival is no longer a private matter, it has become a global issue.
This is an invitation to take part in a think tank and to build a vision for a future without war.

Planet Earth was meant to be Paradise. However, people seem to have forgotten it. Today we live in a time where extensive parts of humanity live in misery and destruction and ever more beings experience comparable fate on an every day basis, so it has become a question of survival to remember the grand original dream of a healthy planet, home to everything that lives.
Do we know our true power? Do we know what a small group of people following a clear vision of the future can change? Those who want to end war need a vision for peace.

After three years of peace research of the Monte Cerro Peace Experiment, Tamera Peace Research Center invites to a summer of vision building.

The vision of a Global Grace Village
How do future societies that are not based on fear, domination, and violence, but instead built on trust look like? Which kind of technological, ecological, architectural, and social structures will societies, resonating with the cosmic order of life, display? How will future societies, where children fully trust their parents again and where lovers never have to leave each other ever again, come into being? Which professions will they have and how will young people learn how to invest their strength for peace?
We call this vision of peace Global Grace Village. We assume that when the first planetary peace model is fully realized in all its depths, it will be a decisive contribution to a future without war.

Next steps of realization: Peace Research Village Middle East
Currently a group of Israelis, Palestinians, and Internationals are preparing the concrete construction of the first peace model. They will present themselves and their project. After the Summer University they will head off to the Middle East and check if the first Peace Research Village can be built there. We will also host representatives from the Peace Village of San José de Apartadó, Colombia, as well as many other guests.

Visionaries, scientists, youth activists, love adventurers:
With global crises overlapping, it is becoming evident that we are close to facing a paradigm shift; so let´s get together and learn to SEE!

Please note: You can stay longer!

Youth Future Village - Global youth summer with Mara Vollmer - July 18th to August 31st
How does a Movement for a Free Earth arise? Tamera International Youth Center invites young leaders for a 6-week intensive workshop. We also invited people from crisis areas like San José de Apartadó, a peace community in Colombia, young representatives of indigenous cultures, and people from Dharamsalla, a Tibetan exile haven in India. The gathering will serve to establish and deepen contact between cultures and religions, to awaken towards a global thinking, loving, and acting. Let's have a new love affair for a future without war.

Following the Tamera Summer University: Vision Quest with Ofer Israeli - August 12th to the 17th
A vision quest is a sacred ritual for the healing of people and Earth. The core of it will be to spend four days and nights alone in the wilderness.

April 8th - April 15th 2009

The world is in transition. The political, ecological and economic crises are getting worse. Existing peace projects need to intensify and expand their network, and develop and manifest alternatives.

Following the initiative of Sabine Lichtenfels, Dieter Duhm and Benjamin von Mendelssohn, a group of particularly committed and active peace visionaries from different cultures and nations will meet in Tamera from April 9 to April 13, 2009. Their intention is to start planning, preparing, and establishing global peace villages together.

Parallel to this event we are inviting interested people to the Easter week from April 8 to April 15. The participants of the peace meeting will introduce their work in a variety of presentations to the visitors of our Easter week. In addition, we will give you an insight into the most recent developments in Tamera. Toward the end of the week (April 12) a Permaculture Seminar by Sepp Holzer will start. Those who are interested can also use this seminar as a possibility to get to know this eco-visionary.

Alternating between speeches, presentations, and walks in the Alentejo spring, the Easter meeting will be a communitarian week of research and study together with students and co-workers of Tamera.

The curriculum of the four-weeks EDE course will consist of the basic knowledge for the development of Peace Villages.
At the same time this training is the first phase of a three-months basic-semester of the Peace Education Monte Cerro, which will include the Summer University “Global Grace Village“, from July 29th – August 15th, 2009.

The global economic crisis, the consequences of which cannot be completely forseen, shows once more that the contemporary capitalist era is going to end and must end for humankind to have a chance to survive.
But what will come after it?

Will civil wars and chaos be unavoidable after the breakdown of the big systems or are there alternatives? Will we also be able to live safely and well without globalized capitalism, or even better? How can we develop and design a sustainable economy? What will new social and economic structures look like, that are not based on the exploitation of human beings, animals and nature?

For years, communities, Ecovillages and Peace Villages all over the world have been doing research and working on the development of alternatives. Now they offer their social, ecological and spiritual experience and teach a knowledge of survival.

We cordially invite you to the fourth EDE course that is going to take place in Tamera!
The goal of this international course (the course language is English) is to learn the basic knowledge for the development of Ecovillages/Peace Villages. It is a course for people who intend to actively participate in the necessary change that is happening on planet earth.

The course will give an overview of the four elementary areas which form the pre-conditions for the development of sustainable models:

1. Worldview: Seeing the world as a whole, understanding why we have an influence on the whole. What does a socially committed spirituality which gives us the power we need to make our contribution look like ?

2. Social Issues: For decades, Tamera has been gathering particularly profound experience and knowledge in this area. What are meaningful structures for a new co-habitation? How can we develop a kind of understanding/communication which creates truth and trust – also in the core areas of community, in love and sexuality? The world needs models in which people really live together without continually reproducing war on a small scale so that a new culture of peace on earth can develop.

3. Economy: How do we deal with the issue of money in a healing way? How can we direct money into the development of sustainable systems instead of war and consumption? We will study the themes of Spiritual Economy, Barter Systems and Alternative Currencies.

1. Ecology: The material building blocks for the construction of new models: We will study in practice – based on existing examples for all areas, as well as in theory and get to know the areas of Ecology (Permaculture, particularly according to Sepp Holzer), new Technologies (Solar Technology – particularly according to Jürgen Kleinwächter) and sustainable building (particularly loam construction.)

The EDE education is a program of GAIA Education by GEN - Global Ecovillage Network (www.gaiaeducation.org; www.gen-europe.org), an official contribution to the “United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005 – 2014” and recognized by UITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research).

Directors: Juliane Eckmann, Jana Mohaupt, Saskia Breithardt, Rico Lütscher

Price, including food and accommodation: 1200 Euro, 600 Euro for youth (up to 21)
Price for Portuguese participants: 800 Euro, 600 Euro for youth (up to 21)

„"Monte Cerro Peace Education" includes comprehensive studies - three months - in peace work and the creation of peace villages. At its core lies the knowledge about community and the development of trust, truth and transparency including the areas of love and sexuality. An essential part of the education is the study of the political theory of a global change through local actions.„

Based on the experience developed during the first three years of the Monte Cerro Peace Education program with more than 80 international students we now start a flexible study program.

The first part is a three-months basic semester, starting on May 4th with a four-weeks UN-recognized Ecovillage-design Education (EDE) course. For further information on this course, see the link below. Those who are interested only in this comprehensive overview of the themes regarding the development of a Peace Village can take this course independently of the remaining program. The first part of the Basis semester continues for two weeks including an evaluation time. The second time of this intensive basic semester will then continue for another eleven weeks and include the Summer University.

In the Basic semester the students will get to know Tamera and its work in an overview: The projects of Tamera such as the Solarvillage, the ecology group and the provision of basic needs of a community as well as the core issues of research in Tamera: community and trust between people with questions like: Which inner steps in these areas create inner peace and thus have an effect on the whole?

From now on we offer our studies in Tamera in modular form and in short-stay courses. This means that long-term-residence in Tamera will no longer be necessary, which also makes it possible for people from other projects and from crisis areas to take part in our education. The further curriculum you (will) find here under events.

We are pleased that international peace workers can use this curriculum to train themselves for their engagement in the world and we wish for the field-like spreading of this knowledge and its practical application in the lives of many people -- in the name of love.

directed by Sepp Holzer

We offer seminars with Sepp Holzer where one can learn the theory and practice of Holzer's Permaculture in conjunction with the actual development of the water landscape in Tamera.

“Holzer's Permaculture
means landscape design in a wider sense:
Correct the mistakes of past,
enable the symbioses of mutual effects,
letting nature work,
reestablishing natural cycles.“
(Sepp Holzer)

The essential areas of Holzer's Permaculture are the development of water landscapes for the ecological renaturation of the land, and the evolution of many mutually-supportive communities of plant and biotopes, which also create a self-sufficient supply of food for the people living there. In addition to dealing with these basic topics, each seminar has its own focus in such a way that the seminars can be attended individually, or as a series that complement each other.

Next Seminar: Water Landscape and AquaCulture
January 28 – February 04, 2009
Directed by: Sepp Holzer and the Ecology Team of Tamera

Topics:
Building water landscapes, ponds, wet and dry areas, taking the different geological situations of valleys and slopes/hills into consideration
How to create biotopes where water purifies itself naturally
Inventory of the flora and the fauna in the area of the water landscape water plants and fishes

“Learning to read nature”: Perception/Survey of a catchment area/watershed; recognizing symbiosis of mutual effects in dry and wet areas Shallow, shore, and deep water zones and their meaning

Dear Friends of Tamera,

"Change has come." US-President-elect Barack Obama has inspired millions of people with these words, regardless of how his politics will turn out. For example, a group of artists ("The Yes Men") published a fake issue of the New York Times with visionary headlines like: Iraq War Ends. We will know how big the movement has become when we can really mean these words -- in all their depth, and worldwide: "Change has come."

The change that Mother Earth needs, just like all her inhabitants do, is a worldwide coexistence without borders, in truth, trust and mutual help, with fulfillment in love, and a life without the exploitation of nature. We cannot wait any longer. Some of us were confronted with just how necessary this change is on our visit to the Colombian peace village of San José de Apartadó.
http://www.sos-sanjose.org/index.php?id=en

Eventually it will not be presidents and parties who bring this change about. Taking a closer look, we see that change already has started in many places. Tamera in Portugal is on the way to becoming such a planetary healing center. In this newsletter you will read about the current developments of Tamera and its peace work worldwide.

News from Tamera:
Global Grace Day: On November 9th, groups and individuals worldwide participated - from Katmandu to Nairobi, from San Francisco to indigenous villages in Colombia - and opened up for the thoughts of Grace: "Where there was pain, let healing awaken. Where there was anger, let the power of change emerge."
On the website www.global-grace-day.com you can find the complete meditation text by Sabine Lichtenfels as well as some short reports, pictures, and videos of the activities. You will see that some amazing things happened in the name of Grace.

You have two more chances to visit Tamera this year: "Tamera Introduction and Study Days in the Advent" is ten days of communal learning and celebration from December 6th to 16th. You are invited to spend this time in the Guest Center of Tamera, to get to know the vision and the life of Tamera, to be inspired by it, and to have it impact your life perspective, activities and surroundings. We also expect Tibetan friends from Dharamsalla during this time. More about the Advent Days at: www.tamera.org/index.php?id=517
And for the first time we are inviting guests to celebrate New Year's Eve with us - from December 27th to January 6th in Tamera and at the ocean for a special, deep and inspiring way to start the New Year. More: www.tamera.org/index.php?id=519

Grace-Pilgrimage in San José de Apartadó in Colombia: More than twenty co-workers and students from Tamera and nearly 150 people from Colombia and other countries took part in the Grace Pilgrimage near the peace village of San José de Apartadó from October 1st to the 6th, led by Sabine Lichtenfels, Benjamin von Mendelssohn, and Padre Javier Giraldo of Bogotá. More: www.tamera.org/index.php?id=520
The complete diaries of the journey can be found here: www.grace-pilgrimage.com

Next Permaculture seminar with Sepp Holzer in January: In October, during the last permaculture workshop with Sepp Holzer, a new water landscape was created in Tamera. The former valley garden was rebuilt into an ecological model for food autonomy and the recultivation of destroyed landscapes. The next seminar with Sepp Holzer will be from January 28th to February 4th, 2009, when interested people can learn how to build water landscapes, ponds, wet and dry zones, and biotopes for natural purification. Everyone who knows Sepp Holzer knows that this will be an intensive learning time about very practical and comprehensive ecological thinking and action.
More seminars with Sepp Holzer in 2009: April 12th - 19th, June 3rd - 10th, September 25th - October 2nd, and December 2nd - 9th. More at: www.tamera.org/index.php?id=480
see also : http://www.wiserearth.org/user/PeterKoll

Plans and projects in Tamera: The first three-year Monte Cerro Peace Education will come to an end on April 30, 2009, when it will be time to evaluate the peace study and to find new concepts for the future. From January to April students and co-workers will live together and have an intensive community time.
The financial structure of Tamera is also being changed. It will be more decentralized and oriented more toward self-sufficiency. We will tell you more in a few weeks.
More: www.tamera.org/index.php?id=521

Many networking trips during this Fall took Tamera coworkers and students to different countries. Tamera was represented on four continents. Some examples: www.tamera.org/index.php?id=522
Tamera co-workers were seen e.g. at Bioneers Conference, in Findhorn ecovillage in Scotland, in Damanhur - ecovillage in Italy, in Kenya - interviewing Wangari Matthai from the Greenbelt Movement, and of course in Bogota and San Jose de Apartado in Colombia, in Iceland - at Global Ecovillage Educators for a Sustainable Earth - preparing the next Ecovillage Design Education in Tamera next May, and more trips e.g. to Hawaii - Youth Leadership Training, ...
http://www.tamera.org/index.php?id=522L=0

We want to deeply thank all those who helped by their invitations, their generosity and their hospitality to make this journeys possible. The friendships have deepened by this and made it possible that Tamera is growing into the world.
Heartful regards!
Text of Meditation, Sabine Lichtenfels

Where there was pain, let healing awaken.

Where there was anger, let the power for change emerge.

Where there was fear, let safety and trust grow.

Where there were enemies, let the awakening of mutual compassion begin.

Where there was oppression, let freedom reign.

Where nations were divided, let sympathy for planet earth lead to shared responsibility.

We have come as a reminder:

If we want planet earth to survive, then all the walls of separation must fall,

the walls between peoples, between Israel and Palestine, between Europe and Africa, between the so-called first and third world,

and likewise with the walls that we have erected in our own psyches, the walls between the genders, and the walls between humans and all creatures.

We have come as a reminder of the original beauty and truth of life:

Every living being has a right to be free and to unfold,

a right to love, and a right to genuine truth and trust.

Let us set examples for overcoming violence wherever we are.

Let us stand up for life and for love so that fear can vanish on earth.

Let us form a worldwide circle of power to safeguard all creation.

May this prayer or something better come to be.

Thank you and Amen.

November 9th "Global Grace Day"

November 9, 2008: Join the Global GRACE Day
What is the Global GRACE Day?

GRACE is the power that may overcome all violence because it is at home in the hearts of all human beings. (Sabine Lichtenfels)

The Global GRACE Day is a special initiative by a growing movement of individuals all over the world. The movement cannot and should not be identified with a specific group or organization; it is an expanding movement of those who have started to develop the quality of GRACE in their hearts. You will recognize them not by their signs and signals, but by the way they behave, act and talk.

One core figure in this movement is Sabine Lichtenfels, peace activist and cofounder of the peace research centre Tamera in Portugal. She is one of the most fascinating spiritual teachers of our time, connecting political actions with female peace knowledge in a unique way. She leads international pilgrimages through crisis areas and is the initiator of the “Global Campus,” an education program for young peace workers which will eventually have bases on all continents.

GRACE activists around the world on the Global GRACE Day read a meditation that Sabine Lichtenfels “receives” each year on a special place in a special way. In 2008, the words will come to her while she is leading a pilgrimage in Colombia with more than 400 participants, together with Padre Xavier Giraldo, Benjamin von Mendelssohn and inhabitants of the peace village San José (Colombia).

In 2005 Sabine Lichtenfels held a meditation in Israel/Palestine in front of the separation wall near the small village Baqqa al Garbye. In 2006 she gathered a group in Berlin, Germany in front of the Holocaust Memorial. In 2007 she was again in Israel/Palestine, where a night vigil took place in Bethlehem. More than 120 international peace workers joined this event in Bethlehem and about 70 groups participated with their own actions all around the world. More information about the past events: http://www.grace-in-bethlehem.net

In 2008 Sabine Lichtenfels will do the meditation in Guatemala.

The meditation serves as an energetic and spiritual sign that we, as humanity, can no longer accept both the inner and outer walls built on a global scale.

More and more groups and individuals worldwide are joining the Global GRACE Day with their specific actions. Whatever they do, they agree on following points:

1. The action is held in the name of GRACE. Whoever wants to take part commits to study thoroughly what is meant by GRACE. (See the text “What is GRACE?” below) We also recommend reading the book, GRACE. Pilgrimage for a Future without War by Sabine Lichtenfels, where the idea and effectiveness of GRACE is described within the context of peace activities in the Middle East.)

2. At some time during the event, the specific meditation text by Sabine Lichtenfels is read out loud and thus serves as the common bond between all participants.

Why November 9th?

Throughout history, November 9th has seen both the force of cruelty and the power of liberation. On November 9, 1938, known as the "Reichspogromnacht" (Crystal Night), synagogues were burned and more than 30,000 people were forced into concentration camps. On November 9, 1989, the Berlin wall, acting as a barrier between two ideologies, was finally taken down.

Many peace movements around the world now use this day as a day of remembrance and as a day of opportunity to create a common peace power that no longer allows cruelty and separation between humans and our planet.

Whoever wants to join the actions of the Global GRADE Day initiative is invited to do so and to contact Anna Bandini: info(at)global-grace-day.com

Once more: Please study beforehand what it means to act in the name of GRACE.
A Solarvillage is a settlement model for a future community or peace village. It can be generalised and can be established at any place on earth that has a fair amount of sunshine. The model that has been planned so far is a largely self-sufficient settlement for 50 people. It guarantees a self-sufficient supply of water, self-sufficient food production and a self-sufficient energy supply. These energy technologies, go far beyond today's commercial solar systems. Here, people from all over the world could be trained. http://www.solarpowervillage.i... sent by Peter Koll, Tamera Team In the Solarvillage, of which the first prototype is to be created in Tamera, two basic models of future existence have been brought together: a social and a technological model. - Peter Koll

Approximately 400 people will go on a Peace Pilgrimage from October 1st to October 5th, 2008.Peace workers from Israel, Palestine and many more countries - including representatives of the “new South American spirit of resurrection” from Mexico, Ecuador and other countries - will be led by Sabine Lichtenfels and Padre Javier Giraldo, together with experienced regional guides. The idea for this pilgrimage grew out of the long standing cooperation between the Peace Research Centre Tamera, Portugal, and the Peace Village San José de Apartadó. Together with the inhabitants of other Colombian Peace Villages, they will show with this peace action their commitment to build up a global peace force which no longer stops at national borders. The pilgrimage will pass through villages and hamlets surrounding San José, where, due to their remoteness, people live near military posts, police headquarters and other significant locations of the rebellion, totally unprotected between the fronts of the civil war. The goal of the pilgrimage is to become familiar with the threat to which Colombian peasants are exposed, to develop peace strategies, and to strengthen the Ring of Power – a confraternity for a future without war!

Tamera - Holzer Permaculture - Seminar Series

Practical seminar Series for Holzer Permaculture

First Seminar: October 5th - 12th

Ecology is the central theme in a model for a global Peace Research Village (PRV) especially at a time when destruction of the landscape, hunger and desertization are rampant. In close cooperation with the permaculture expert, Sepp Holzer, we want to find answers to these issues. Therefore in Tamera (134 ha) a permaculture and water landscape has been developed to offer answers to the following social and ecological questions:
How does a non-violent and ecologically compatible village model look for the human being to live on planet earth?
How can one heal the water situation so that there is enough water for everyone and the fertility of the soil can be improved?
How do human beings, animals and plants co-exist in cooperation and harmony?
How does one develop a regionally self-sufficient food supply?

In October of this year a continuous series of seminars for Holzer permaculture begins. It will be practical learning based on current projects. Interested and experienced people are warmly welcomed to co-create and mutually brain-storm.

First seminar:
“Development of retention space, mixed seeds, and the symbiosis of interaction”
October 5th - 12th
Presentation: Sepp Holzer and the Tamera Ecology Team

During the seminar the following core issues will concern us:
How does one build water retention spaces?
How does one build high beds and terraces which form the basis of the Holzer permaculture?
How can one develop and continually increase the fertility of the soil and the entire biotope?
How does one best use the symbiosis of interaction between the various mixed cultures of fruit, vegetable and helper plants?
Which type of green fertilizers and mixed seeds are beneficial to this process?

Second seminar:
“Water Landscape and Aqua Culture”
January 28 – February 3, 2009
Presentation: Sepp Holzer and the Tamera Ecology Team

Message of HIS HOLINESS, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje
To the Summer University of Tamera

It is good for the whole world, for the beings who inhabit it and the environment in which they live, if we are able to achieve peace and harmony. For this reason positive leadership is very important and today´s youth are the leaders of the future.

As individuals it is particularly important that we develop a kind heart, a sense of love, compassion and respect for others. However, we do not have to try to generate these feelings afresh because they arise naturally in us as human beings. What we need to do is recognise these positive qualities within us and work to develop them.

When it comes to being kinder to the natural environment, we need to remember that the world is not just a large rock, but more like a mother´s womb, a living vessel that supports life. It is like the body of all beings, therefore we must take care of it.

I send you my prayers that as a result of attending this Summer University you may all be inspired to work enthusiastically for peace and the welfare of others in whichever part of the world you may live.
