It seems like FOREVER since I posted a blog -mostly because I am super blog shy and don't know what to write about --or I think WOW! I should blog about this and when it comes time to write I get bloggers block. So my appologies if this is a ramble blog but I wanted to blog to my CLC friends and tell you my new blogging strategy --I have a book (my little blue book) and inside is filled with all the adventures, meetings, network contacts and projects in progress and the newest section is "blogs" the next time I think WOW! I should blog about that --I have already taken notes to help the bloggers block.
That's my advice -if you have bloggers block -start a section in your book called "blogs" or "stuff people across Canada might actually care about" or whatever you want to call it --try it and Happy Blogging:)

The purpose of this blog is to say HI to everyone involved in the CLC project and to encourage you to check out my next blog -

Strategic Planning with Youth

I attended a youth strategic planning session October 2nd focusing on recruitment and retention of youth in youth-led initiatives. It was very informative and I took away a lot of great ideas about facilitation and recruitment of diverse groups. The group is thinking about planning a youth conference but they require more members –so we brainstormed ways to recruit and retain new members –it was agreed that youth need to be engaged in activities and projects and they need to have clear objectives and goals. They have steps for recruitment in place and another meeting scheduled for Wed, Oct 8th.
We ran a diversity activity tonight that I recommend our CLC group try and I’d like to run it either at our meeting or set up a time when we can run it over the project chat. I think it would be a good follow up to the anti-oppression training we had only less intense. Let me know if this is something you’d be into and I’d be happy to take the lead on facilitating this.

CLC training in Toronto was exciting ---it was amazing to meet people from across Canada and share all kinds of adventures. We spent three intense days of training and orientation TIG style.
I am very excited to be a part of the TIG team Canada CLC--I have sent the CBC Make Some Noise clip to my contacts to generate a buzz around the site and the CLC project in Thunder Bay.
Overall, I feel inspired by the youth-led concepts presented and I'm ready to make some noise!
Stay tuned for updates.
