I just wanted to say EID Mubarak to you all. If you don't know what Eid is - let me explain. Its the festival that marks the end of Ramadan; something over a billion Muslims are celebrating at this time.

Remember how myself, Ilyas and Yassir were fasting during orientation. Will Ramadan ended yesterday and today is EID, our holiday marking the end of fasting.

Though I can't speak for all Muslims, but usually the day comprises of going to the Mosque in the morning for a special prayer and then visiting with friends and family and eating. Its a time to celebrate, see one another and just be thankful.

I thought it would be interesting to blog about this even though it doesn't have any direct link to my role within TIG. But thought you guys would want to know about it.

Perhaps Ilyas and Yassir could share what they are doing for EID.

Oh, and there is a second EID in two months that marks the important religious event when GOD asked Abraham to kill his son Ishmael, but in the end GOD told Abraham not to. I hope all is well with you and your families.

It seems like yesterday that we were all at the TIG head office wrapping up our training session, but that was over a week ago! Time flies..

Anyways, since then I have found myself thinking about different things I can do on behalf of TIG in my community and I am quite excited at some of the possibilities.

Last thursday I got started on my networking when I sat down with the president of the UBC (University of British Columbia) chapter of STAND (the organization that works on the Darfur conflict). I brought out my laptop and showed him the TIG website and tried to encourage his organization to start a project page. I think the meeting went really well and he seemed very interested. It was my first TIG related networking session and I think it went pretty well. So to all of my fellow YEC, don't worry if you are a little nervous, just go out and be yourself!

Today I called the Boys and Girls club here in Vancouver to discuss the 'Change The Clicks' program and see if our two organizations could get that initiative going here. Our initial phone call went well and I am hoping to send them some more information via email soon.

I was just on my Gmail, trying to get my TIG account going and I am have some technical difficulties.. anybody else share this problem as well? I hope to contact Mai or Kimia to help me with this.

A little about myself:

- I am 22 years old (but am soon turning 23 hopefully)
- I live in Vancouver, BC
- I am of Bangladeshi descent, though born in Japan and now live in Canada
- I attended Carleton University (as some of my fellow TIG colleagues have also or are in the process of doing so) and received a Bachelors in Political Science
- I am back at school this year, this time with my Law degree
Likes: Sushi, beaches, sleeping, eating, just staying home for a quiet evening, learning new things, meeting different people, humanitarian work, Taking IT Global!

Dislikes: Cheese, camping, the political system and process in many parts of the world!
