I just came up with this idea when I saw an article saying technologies have make education worse.
How would we do this same project without the technologies????????

1.We wouldn't know the social issues that are happening far away from us (like genocide) if we don't have good technologies in the media
2.Takingitglobal. When we post blogs on takingitglobal, anyone in the world could respond to us.
3.we would have to read books to do research if we don't have access to the internet
4.it would be harder to find a book in the library if we don't use the internet.
5.Surveys. We wouldn't be able to survey the diversity of people if we just survey the people around us. When we want to make a graph of the results, the computers can make it easier for us.
6.Ask an expert. We wouldn't able to ask an expert unless we interview the expert face to face.
7.Presentation: all of us are using the smart board and PowerPoint. Technology's also making learning fun.

hehe, we are so lucky that we can do the speech project in the computer lab =P

People are always not satisfied with what they have, is that why?
the way I am taught is much better than the way my parents, my aunts and uncles are taught.

what do you think is the main problem you are taught? too much homework? too much tests?
I think the way of teaching has become much better.

I made my last survey (education/ways of teaching) in both English and Chinese.
Most Chinese people think their teachers are worse than their parents' teachers; most English speakers (or readers) think their teachers are better than their parents'.
People hate tests. This is the part which becomes less than before.
More Chinese speaking people think homework is important than English speaking people.
I asked what people like about the way they they're taught, the results are fun and creative stuffs, play while learning, free talk, drama, etc. Teachers should teachelp their students to be creative and find their true interests and abilities.

We do want less work and tests and more "freedom", but what would the result be if we are learning that way?
Think about it, I feel the work we are getting now are not too much. If we don't work as much as now we can't learn as much as now..................................(I used to have way more work in China!!!)

i was reading the discussion board this morning and saw someone asked "what are your thoughts about tests". many people say they don't like tests. some people dont do well on their tests doesnt mean they don't they don't get it. they just can't memorize it. there are people who spend time on learning how to get high scores on written tests. these are people who get correct answers but they don't really know why. they get good grades but when they need to use what they learn they don't know how.
lots people say essays, group projects, presentations are good for testing students' real knowledge and ability. what do you think?
we need education that teaches us what we really need to know in real life!

so, how, do you think we should be tested?

hi everyone. my topic is about education and i think the world is better than before.
what i know is long time ago, in my home country, grils coundn't go to school. then they have schools for girls and for boys seperately. now all girls and boys must go to school public schools until gr10.
we have 20-30 students per class now, but in some places there're about 60 students/class.
it takes most of us less than 30 minutes to get to school, but in some remote areas little kids have to walk for hours from home to school.
remember what we learned in history, the 3 angry men? one of the things that made them angry was only children of rich people could go to school. now all of us can go to school.
technology... would you see students using the internet to do their projects(like what im doing right now!)100 years ago? its sure becoming better!
ways of teaching........................im not sure about this part. i think teachers should teach more about life, since they have more experices... i really don't know how the way of teaching changed, but i think it changed didn't it?
many thing had changed and they are changing quickly in this world. if you know more feel free to comment!

thanks:)
