Countdown update - 6 weeks and 2 days

I am unreasonably impressed with what the universe (or Google) provides when you ask...

as many free soccer balls as you can carry (thank you service2humanity.com)
free canada flag pins (thank you Bob Rae)
bunch of kids books (thank you Lisa)
...still waiting on the hotel swag

But seriously, how amazing is that?!?...it really is very humbling and heart warming to find out how many people are out there doing as much good as they can.

Am also a little bit sad to be leaving my 9-5 gig, even though its been quite a long stretch doing the 7 day a week thing - I will miss the WM crew. But will enjoy sleeping in, having a few days off, and learning more swahili

Peace and Love

I am slowly accumulating things to fill my pack. There was a moment in MEC last night when I saw the folds down to pocket sized body towel that I hadn't considered having shower while staying in Africa...what exactly is going to happen during that week in the Serengeti?! I then pause, take a deep breath and remind myself that I am not the first person to deal with such things and worrying about it now is not going to help. Mostly just make logical decisions and hope that when I show up with the wrong stuff that I can get the right stuff there...necessity is the something of invention right?

Also, trying not to complain, freak out or otherwise whine...breathe, chill, roll with it...am there to serve

Now comes the interesting challenge of filling my second bag with 'stuff' - stuff to leave behind. Useful, easy on the environment, cheap/free...anyone have any idea where I can get 30 uninflated soccer balls?
So far, the 'Canada' pencils from the dollar store look promising.

The best news this week, my yoga mat is going to double as a sleepad...now, I wonder if its going to fit in my pack

Peace and Love
