ADOPTION

September 17th, 2007 is to be a day of reckoning for the millions of adoptees and birth parents and kin in Ontario, Canada whom have no access to the identifying information of their own next of kin. Since 1927, adoption records had been sealed and adoptees and birth parents unable to at a legal age for a child be enabled to view personal information such as the identities of family members, original birth certificates including the names of both birth parents and the child’s name and the most important aspect; a transparency to the access to information for both parents and children involved in the adoption process.
A social stigma which causes this rift of transparent information for both parties disallows the human right to personal information. Society’s stigma of the unwed pregnancy clearly displaces individuals, makes them strangers to their own kin, and segregates individuals in its attempt to create social approval for the individuals involved.
On September 17, 2007, fifty years after this decree made law, finally access to important information for the adopted children and their families will be rightfully returned. Adoptees and birth parents will have access to their own personal history through sealed government documents including original birth certificates, identifying information, legal original birth names and all of the documentation available pertaining to the adoption. It’s a long time coming and although halfway there, and a great victory for the adoption community, there is still a lot more work to be done to eradicate the silence and secrecy of adoption.

So what is it that prevents mentor / protégée relationships?
Narcissism.
The idea that it’s all about that reflection in the mirror. And teams of yes men paid to agree and endure.

G.H. Pollock observed ‘The malignant narcissist is presented as pathologically grandiose, lacking in conscience and behavioral regulation with characteristic demonstrations of joyful cruelty and sadism.’
Tom Cruise has talked about his abusive father, James Dean’s father was unloving and rejected him and well, let’s not even get into Lindsay Lohan’s parentage. Here’s more on narcissism.
‘…an infantile, defensive personality structure in response to abuse and trauma, usually developing in early childhood or early adolescence. They suggest that narcissistic personality disorder may be a maladaptive defense of the abused child's or adolescent's emotional splitting, resultant cognitive distortions, and negative/hostile worldview.’

I’m just sayin’.

Hi Ive been kindof trying to urge everyone in the class to colaborate on some ideas, but Im maybe not too good at getting people to colaborate because no one seems to be into it;/ aw ..well ill keep trying anyway. i think it would be great if we could come up with something together and bring that to our communities. so here are some of my ideas...
*Re-usable grocery bag
*Re-usable waterbottle
Also on the TIG website, I didnt notice the area where we recieve private messages, and Ive had quite a few, and each was very interesting and brought a smile to my face just knowing how many caring people are out there- really amazing people, i felt a sudden feeling of thankfulness, and security in the knowledge of the goodness of the human spirit:)

Ok ...so one of the ideas I have is that going GREEN is often not the chosen path because people find making changes to be a hassle, and not easy to find all of the things to do in one place. So what if we created a care package, a list of items that could ultimately change a persons environmental impact?
At the supermarket you can pick up
Canada's Greenest Shopping Bag
PC GREEN ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS
RECYCLED, REUSABLE,RECYCLABLE
This product is made of recycled plastic (85%) post consumer recycled plastic, using soft drink and water bottles collected from recycling facilities.
The plastic bottles that could have eventually ended up in landfill sites are put to good use. A cradle to cradle idea wink
And they are 99Cents a bag ( I have 3 smile )
LOBLAWS INC
MONTREAL H4N3L4 TORONTO M4T 2S8
CALGARY T2E7S9 CANADA
1-888-495-5111
This could be one of the first items in the campaign we create.
QUOTE

I was reading a high school created newspaper today and wanted to share some of the inspiring things that are happening.
Highschools are now offering a CO-OP program for senior students in areas of SOCIAL CHANGE.
As well, their are trips with cultural immersion and education on social issues.
And finally, environmentalism is becoming somewhat mainstream...
and this is the best type of mainstream action happening -
what will the new wave of social change be...
