Global Apathy

I am constantly plaged by the fact that there are so many things wrong with the world today, and nobody seems to care. Which is why I'm so glad I have found this website. I am especially disappointed that so many people, my age and younger have given up hope for positive change. I feel as though everyone around me is either ignorant or apathetic and I can't help but wonder what the future holds when too many people just don't care. They claim it is not their problem and move on with their lives selfishly disregarding the problems that humanity faces. I am also frusrated because I have this need to try and help and make things better, but I can't seem to find any big ways to do it. I have joined clubs at my school, where all anyone cares about is their reputation for colleges. And we have organized informative assemblies that no one responds to. Has anyone been successful in bringing global issues to the attention of their community and gained support to do something that helps?
