Catch a vision, be focused in 2009

Dear TIG colleagues,

2008 has been a very wonderful year for most of us, yet it has been very terrible for some people.

There is always a way out of it.

A man without a vision is a man doomed for death. A man without a focus is a man who has planned to fail in all his lifetime.

Be ready to catch a vision for the year 2009 and get focused to succeed. Refuse to be distracted by any one; have a bigger dream than what you had before; walk with the right people; market yourself as much as possible; think well and think right; above all, do not fail to call on God who authors your life for the best results to always come your way.

With these and more, you will surely accomplish your desires for 2009.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Planning for anti-corruption by agencies!!!

I have discovered in the course of organising this anti-corruption rally and workshop that agencies do not budget for anti-corruption events. This has not stopped baffling me because I assume just like planning for a workplace HIV/AIDS events, anti-corruption should also have a budget.

You ask what for???

It is simply to sensitize the populace on the need to work/walk against corrupt practices. Just like preaching the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, believing that one day a soul will surely repent.

I feel like saying more, but let me give us something to think about.

Peace!!!

The Snake Xenzia Model

Anyone who is familiar with the "Snake Xenzia" computer or phone game will quickly understand what i am about to say.

This happens to be one of the games people play most in their handsets, especially when they are less busy.

Let's compare it with our day to day activity or better still businesses.

You will realize that5 the Snake Xenzia game takes all human attention and switches him off from other activities. To make the "Snake Master", which is the height of winning the game, you have to go through so much circles which does not gaurantee your winning, neither does the winning give you a significant difference from the number you won in the last time you had a Snake Master. Besides, ask yourself the last time you had a Snake Master.

Applying the Snake Xenzia Model in your business does not give room for planning your business strategies. You only find out you have started a business trip. Secondly, you do not know when you will make the second profit after the first one. This is so because there is no particular direction at which the winning ball is coming from. The same thing goes when you have to win the bonus. Since you cannot figure where the bonus is coming from, you may either get a bit of the bonus or not get it at all because you may have ran out of time before getting there.

If you insist on going on the business trip, you will realize that what you are trying to earn more MUST not meet up with what you had earned, otherwise you are out of business. But why? In business, earning more should meet up with what you had earned before and this should call for joy, but the Snake Xenzia model does not give room for that.

So, the Snake Xenzia model in your business only takes your entire time trying to make fast earnings without having planned for it and then after a short while, you loose, you MUST loose.

There is an opposite for Snake Xenzia, and this is called the S.M.A.R.T model.

Yes, most of us know about it but are reluctant to apply it because making earnings seem to be long termed.

This give room for Specifying your business and planning for it, Measuring the business to see if it is Achievable, checking if you can actually Realize your goals and a given Time.

Common, get inspired and embrace the S.M.A.R.T model in your business.

There are a thousand and one people who do not like what they are doing but keep doing it because they seem not to find something else or they are afraid if they leave there, life will be so tough.

Have you asked yourself how those you are working with or you are working for started theirs?

Think about what to do, share ideas, get inspired by other people's activities, coin out your own, take steps, ask for help where you need one, do not get discouraged when you do not find help, keep asking until you find, and one day, you will be glad you did.

It was very difficult to convince them to come up to train as Peer Educators on HIV Other Prevention project. Few of them finally turned up. The others left because the transport fee to be given to them was so small and did not measure up with what they got each day riding their bykes.

At the end of the training, the commercial motorcycle operators, a.k.a. Okada riders, agreed with the fact that it was a good idea to sit down to learn on life skills especially as it had to do with HIV prevention. The money aspect did not matter again.

They are now Peer Educators and authorities in area of HIV prevention.

This is a lesson to all, that although money is good, knowledge is best.

I have been able to speak with few who i found at the cyber browsing. Asking them what they were browsing, i was able to deduce that they just felt like coming to the cyber, "that wasnt the truth."

I had to open up to ask if they knew they could make a difference in their lives as youth of that age by joining youth organisations online, sharing ideas and getting developed beyond the classroom. It was news to them.

I really believe we are trying in inviting people to the TIG website, i encourage us to do more so we can have a better informed tomorrow amongst our youth.

The CLCWA TOT Kano that is about to round up in less than 24 hours has really inspired me to re-start my activities in my organisation, Teenage Dimensions.

The peer-led component of the project is such that cannot not be overlooked especially if you are working with youth as it were.

I am about to explode in this project and i want as many who want to come with me to please indicate their interest via email on ellaoffiong@gmail.com. Also check my articles on other things that inspire me e.g capacity building, in my URL www.precioussly.blogspot.com
