http://www.wwf.ca/earthhour/

This is a great opportunity for young people across the country - mobilize your school, friends, parents, ask your city to participate, your employer, everyone! Resources are available on the site (which is far better than I thought it would be).

From website:
On March 29, 2008, cities across Canada, and around the world will turn off their lights for Earth Hour, a WWF event to raise awareness about climate change and symbolize that, working together the people of the world can make a difference in the fight against climate change.

Earth Hour has grown from a single event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 to a global phenomenon that will occur across six continents and in as many as 20 cities in 2008.

Toronto was the flagship Canadian city to commemorate Earth Hour 2008 but dozens of others including Ottawa, Vancouver and Montreal have already joined!

We need all the help we can get dealing with our federal government on climate change. Waiting for an election isn't enough though - so we pressure, in any way we can. Natural Resources Canada needs to hear from young people why adopting tougher emissions requirements is critical.

www.cleancarscanada.ca

From the site:
Canadians may want the cleanest cars available with currently existing technologies, but they won’t get them unless Transport Canada gets the message that relatively weak U.S. federal CAFE standard is unacceptable for this country. Tell them today. Share the link. Deadline: March 15.

An exhaustive analysis by the California Air Resources Board confirms that Canada would more than double its greenhouse gas reductions in 2016 with California tailpipe standards rather than U.S. federal fuel economy (miles/gallon) rules. Transport Canada will set new standards for cars sold in Canada by the end of this year, and is leaning heavily toward the weaker approach.
