Hello all,

I have not given you an update in some time, but I will try to keep this brief.

Thanks to my many supporters, I have met my fundraising goal of $3800 for Youth Challenge International. I am very touched by the generosity of those who responded to the my call for support.

I have my ticket booked and will be leaving Toronto on January 28, 2007, arriving in Dar Es Salaam the following evening. I still have a few preparations to complete before this - getting my Visa, pre-departure training, final paperwork, packing and a week-long pre-departure training session in Toronto - but mostly I am just anxious to start working.

Thank you for checking in. I will keep this blog as current as possible, so please check in once in awhile. Also, I invite you to join takingitglobal. It's free and you will be joining a large network of people from around the world who are interested in sharing ideas and experience about global issues. You will not get a barrage of unwanted e-mail, but you will be able to access many online resources on a variety of topics and you can leave comments on my blog.

Best,

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to some very generous sponsors, I am only $1465 away from my fundraising goal. This weekend some supporters came out to a wine and cheese here in Toronto in support of YCI in Tanzania.

I would like to take a moment to thank my two biggest sponsors so far:

Patrick Lawlor of Lawlor Co. in Hamilton, ON and Bob Munsch of Robert Munsch Enterprises Ltd. in Guelph, ON.

I am moved by your kindness and inspired by your enthusiasm and generosity.

Keep checking in to hear about more updates.

Best,

Tanaznia Fundraising Deadline November 14, 2006

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to the generous support of friends and family, I have raised $1775 for YCI to date. This means that there is only $2025 remaining to reach my fundraising goal.

November 14th marks the second fundraising deadline for YCI's Tanaznia 2007 project. Please show your support by making a contribution to this great cause. If you have specific questions about me or this project or about how your contribution will make a difference in Tanzania, please e-mail me at kathscott_tanzania2007@yahoo.ca. Tax receipts will be issued for any donations of $25 dollars or more.

Here are some fun fundraising ideas that you can initiate to support this cause:

*At work, ask your colleagues to bring their own lunches in reusable containers and give what they would have spent at the food court to YCI. Casual days at work are also an easy way to collect some quick cash!
*Trade your daily coffee from Timmy's or Starbucks for home-brewed (fair-trade) java in a travel mug and pass the savings along to the Tanzania project.
*Host an event at home with your friends: a tea party, a silent auction, a wine and cheese, a poker game. I will provide prizes!
*Have your book club read a book about Tanzania. I recommend "The In-between World Of Vikram Lall" by M. G. Vassanji. Ask each reader for a small contribution.

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for your support.

Cheers,
