                    <description><![CDATA[There's just a ton of cool things going on here. You'll learn a lot from all the wonderful projects showcased ..from e-learning to community media, from NGO-initiated ICT4D projects to government-sponsored ones,  ohhhh yes, the Youth Hub Space!!!! People just keeps on coming...and talking!!! Really look forward to doing post-WSIS work when I get back to Manila. <br />

                    <title>Philippine Youth Gearing Towards WSIS</title>

                    <description><![CDATA[The Young Volunteers for Sustainable Development, spearheading the WSIS youth campaign in the Philippines, is pleased to announce its holding of the 1st Philippine Youth Consultative Meeting on WSIS on September 8, 2003 at the Asian Development Bank Headquarters in Manila, the Philippines. About 100 young people engaged and interested on WSIS and ICT4D, comprising of young ICT entreprenuers, managers and policy makers, leaders of youth communities and university-based organizations, representatives of international organizations with Philippine Representative Offices, and civil society, are expected to attend the Consultative Meeting. <br />

The general theme of the meeting is "Youth Charting the Future of the Information Society" and civil society members and government agencies active in the WSIS process and agenda will deliver presentations on a diverse range of topics from youth perspectives on the IS, Philippine government WSIS position, communication rights, e-governance, environmental sustainability, gender equality and others. A Philippine Youth Declaration and Action Plan will be adopted by the delegates and presented to the Head of the Philippine delegation to PrepCom 3.<br />
<br />
From September to December, YVSD, in partnership with leading university student organizations, will hold "Youth@WSIS" exhibitions in at least five Metro Manila universities showcasing youth engagement and positions in the WSIS process. These events aim to empower young people as active stakeholders of the information society and innovative leaders in ICT4D projects.<br />
