O que inspira você?
Inspiration is when a brother reaches out to help the neighbour across the street because he has run out of milk for his children. When a sister reaches out and helps the neighbour call for police because she knows her neighbour is being robbed and refuses to turn a blind eye. When a piece of paper is falling along the pavement outside your house and you pick it up to put it in the garbage bin or trash can. When I can email my sister from Fiji, who is on a YWAM trip in mainland China, and we chat about where she is and what she is currently doing. When at a click of a button I can have all the information I need from the Internet!
These scenarios are the things which inspire me. When you know there is someone in need and you have what it takes, never hesitating to reach out and lend a helping hand because you never know when you will need that person's help. And the environment, I believe the world can be a safe place to live in if we keep it clean. We need to keep a clean future for our children and their children.
Inspiration also comes from information, communication and technology. I am inspired by what information & technology can and will continue to bring about. I believe it is an area that can bring the world together - a world that can live together in peace and harmony.

I was first introduced to the concept of Women's Liberation when I was a little girl. I remember when my father used to tell my mother, "You are just getting into women's lib and you're not listening to what I am telling you to do." My mum used to complain to us, the children, "Man, he never listens to me". Those instances made me determined to be my own person, to be independent. It was not until my first year at university, where I was pursuing a double degree in Journalism and History/Politics, that I came across the theoretical concept of women's rights, women's liberation, the empowerment of women, gender equality and so forth. For my semester break, when I wanted to work for the Fiji Women's Rights Movement (they look at the legal aspects of empowering women), I was stopped by - you bet - MY FATHER. Same words again, "Oh I don't want women's lib here" etc...But although I never got to work for FWRM, I made it my business to read a lot on this issue both locally and globally. I have always made it my business not to put women down. I believe in the empowerment of women and young girls. I feel for the women and girls who are abandoned, who are not given the right to proper education simply because they are girls. So I have decided to teach my son that smacking girls is not right. That laying a hand on girls is not right. And as young as he may be (2 yrs), I'm teaching him to respect girls, to respect women. So that when he grows he will learn not to see women as inferior or wanting to take over the world, but a woman will be someone he will be able to work with, to share ideas and to treat equally.

I believe a good leader is someone who set downs rules that will benefit all races and everyone living in that community. A good leader is someone who speaks his/her mind, but at the same time does not hold grudges against anyone. A good leader is someone who will take into consideration the views of others and who will see criticism as positive rather than negative.

Yes, I believe TakingITGlobal is indeed a good forum where I can achieve some of my goals, because the stories I read here are so inspirational. The views shared are things I can learn from. There is so much to read and of course so much to share and write and learn from!
