What inspires you?
The suffering of the orphaned and underprivileged children that I witnessed in India, inspired me to start my own NGO. It is amazing that even though these children live in such hardships, there is a smile on their face. This motivates me to do more for them.
Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.
Helping orphaned and underprivileged children has been my passion and cause. I started helping orphans when I was 9 years old. Now at 13, I continue to actively raise funds and care for the children.
I have started a non-profit organization (Empower Orphans - www.EmpowerOrphans.org). This organization is currently active in India and USA. Hopefully, in the years to come, it will spread to other parts of the world.
Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.
It takes a unique combination of personality traits, for a person to take on a leadership role and successfully make a positive contribution in the lives of other individuals. A person needs to have a strong civic sense, be caring and selfless, and have the ability to persevere despite frequent rejection, be responsible, trustworthy and be of good character. The fact that I took action and started Empower Orphans to help orphaned and underprivileged children, clearly demonstrates that I have what it takes to make a difference.
Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.
TakingITGlobal can definitely help in spreading the word about my organization to other parts of the world. TiG seems to have an active community, which will hopefully involve my organization. Some TiG members may start their own chapter of Empower Orphans in their own countries.
