Ne ilham verir sana?

It inspires me when I read about those who are active in society. They don’t have the attitude held by so many: “I’m going to change the world, but I’ll start tomorrow.” The people who inspire me are those who are already out there. They don’t do it to get attention but they do it because they want to be the change they wish to see. They know that young people’s opinions are seen as whispers, but they understand that whispers create voices. Even if their project wasn’t a 100% success, they tried and they gave it a go.

Bize senin için önemli, nasıl farkına varacağın ve katılabileceğin bir şey söyle.

Many issues matter to me. When I was 12, my family moved from the city into a country area and it was a culture shock! I wasn’t happy so I decided I could change what I didn’t like or at least give it a go. I started looking at local issues, and then I became aware of national and international issues, becoming involved in them also. Just a few of the issues that concern me nationally are: youth depression, and the fact that 1 in 5 young people in Australia suffer from depression every year. Internationally, there are a lot of issues: a key issue would be the lack of aid sent to Sudan, where an approximate 1.2 million people are displaced. Children in conflict are another issue, which concerns me greatly. When I am older, I would like to work overseas to try and help solve these injustices.

İyi bir lideri neyin oluşturacağı hakkında bakış açını paylaş.

I believe a good leader is a person who knows when they need to take charge. At the same time, they can let other people take lead and work with them to achieve the common goal. Leaders must be tough enough to fight but tender enough to cry. Leaders must be human enough to make mistakes, but also humble enough to admit them. Leaders must be adventurous enough to get knocked down but resilient enough to get back up and keep on moving. The world needs leaders!!!

Sence TakingITGlobal gayelerini başarmanda yardımcı olabilir mi? Yoksa çoktan oldu mu?Bize nasıl olduğunu söyle.

I have been a member of TIG since a young age. It has allowed me to think globally and still act globally. There are a lot of issues I would have been still unaware of if it wasn’t for TakingITGlobal. I believe that ignorance is blinding; we need to know what is going on in the world because awareness is the thing that can enable us to act! What is my goal? Well that would be to make sure I am making a difference to someone’s life, great or small. May sound like a beauty pageant, but it’s true! I live in Australia and I am so lucky! I go to school, party, eat and have the freedom to speak out; to give this life or even a bit of it to someone who has missed out would be truly rewarding and TIG gives me the inspiration and the motivation to do so! TIG rocks my socks!!!

hi Haylz...

nice to read ur story. I agree with you that leader is someone who knows when they need to take charge. It remind me with Stephen Covey, author 7th Habbits for Youth. He wrote special quotes in his book

"if someone asked me to cut the trees 9 hours, I will use 4 hours to sharp my saw"

Thx a lot to remind me that things Halyz. Sometimes...we forget to take a rest a while.hehehe

BREAKING THE BLAME SYNDROME

Blame is a universal issue. It is as old as the beginning days of the Bible. In the Garden of Eden, Adam blamed his wife Eve for his predicament. He said, “the woman you put here with me made me do it" Genesis 3:16 paraphrased. No one changes unless he admits the need to change. Transferring the blame on others will never change a situation. Becoming a better you require becoming responsible for your own actions. Our environment may influence us if we allow it but we have no right to blame our environment for our actions or decisions. Those you associate with on a relational level do not have power over your life unless you give it to them. When you pass the blame over to someone else, all you are doing is covering guilt and evading responsibility. There is a ceremony in the Old Testament in Leviticus 16:20-22, called the 'Escape Goat'. When the sins and the troubles of the people overwhelmed them in those days, they took a healthy male goat to the High Priest. He would then lay his ha

Dear Haylz

I agree with you 100%. I read what you said and it mean alot to me, because for one I thought I was the only person to think like that and I'm happy I found someone with some of the same perspectives I have myself. If you follow your dreams you could become whatever you want to in life. I want you to remember to never give up and always lead. Loved your story.

Help us

Greetings in the most precious name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
Today I have a very sad news for you. Muslim mob destroy 60 Christian Homes with chemical bombs in near by village of Gojra city.
During night of July 31, 2009 a big Muslim Mob attack the Christian homes with Chemical bombs. The black smoke was still rising from 60 destroyed homes which were flattened by fire when our team reached in village Korian.

“The situation of the fire which has even burnt the bricks of homes reminds horrible picture of Shanti Nagar, where chemical bombs were used to destroy that Christian village in 1998.The homes of Christians in village Korian are presenting same thing.

Village Korian is at 3 miles distance from Gojra city. There are about 75 Christian families living before independence of Pakistan in 1947, in this village named Korian.

The Muslim extremists used blasphemy laws on personal rivalries and grudges against Christians. The horrible incident of destruction of Christian h

good job !

I learned that when she was 12 her family moved from a city to a country like place. I also leanred that when she is older she would like to work over seas to try and help solve injustices.
This is interesting because its goood that she wants to go help people in third world countries. This persons experience is different from mine because she actually wants to go overseas to help but i give to charities instead.

Making Connections

I had known that depression rates in youth were high, but I've never seen the actual statistics. 1 out of 5 is pretty big. I also like your description of what makes a good leader and agree with it. Leaders who have some negative experiences under their belt also would be appreciated as they would be more relatable too (in the sense that "Hey, this guy knows what's what cause he's gone through things too."). It's interesting though to be able to realise that even though your view points aren't the exact same as mine, there are a lot of similarities.

You are different from me though in that you seem more biased to human compassion maybe? I agree that the world needs leaders. I agree that so many issues should and could be simply solved, but at the same time, there really isn’t much a person can do. Human nature, despite how people try to fight it (or not), is always behind every action and thought that we have. There is always a question, either conscious or sub-conscious "How would

Your interests became my knowledge!

Great artical! The part that shocked me the most was that 1 in 5 young people who live in Austrilia suffer from depression. It makes me want to learn about how those statistics change in Canada, but more importantly if there is a reason that they may be higher in some countries then others. I also strongly agree with your "good leader" section. That a good leader can let others lead and work, when often (in politics, or even school!) these message's do not get across.

Inspiring!

Your own inspirations and issues that matter to you, have inspired me and i'm sure others to make a difference. I also agree completely that a leader needs to take a stand but at the same time needs to let others help. Many times I witness great leaders but when help is offered they choose not to accept.

hiimingold Posted By: hiimingold

Great job!

I really enjoy how you talked about taking charge and getting out into the world to help out. I agree about what you said makes up a good leader exactly, you must know how to take charge and speak your mind. I think that anyone who helps out in the world, even if it's a small task, you can make a difference.
It's very interesting of what you want to do when your older as a career, you'll be really helping out the world! Working overseas, wow, thats great!
What i've learned from reading your story is even more personaly traits you need to have to be a true leader, you've given great ideas.
Something else I found interesting about you wrote was maybe I myself should start being more aware of some more issues going around in the world.
Thanks!

Dana's Comment

I am also inspired by people who actively work at global or local issues that concern and interest them and by people who work selflessly to make a difference in the world. Almost everyone knows and are worried about world issues, but leave it to others to do something about it. Every person can make a difference, no matter how small.
