My life changed from that day on because I realized when you lose just one parent, it feels like your world has come to an end. I never looked at my mother, single parents or widows the same way since. My heart’s desire is to open up a safe haven for such kids to call home. If you still have one of your parents, please appreciate him/her because you still have it better than some of the kids in an orphanage. The issue that really matters to me is giving a voice to the voiceless. This group includes the poor and the youthful youth. I became aware about this through my work as a journalist as most of the issues that are being covered by the media concern people that are already in the limelight and leave out the grassroots.
