Youth involvement in community development and social change. I became aware of it at an early stage in life and what currently impresses me the most is the Ministry of Youth Affairs incorporating the ideas of a 13 year old Kenyan, Trevor Langat kibet in the budget speech. This shows that youth ideas are no longer being shunned and that our leaders are moving in the right direction in appreciating what youngsters have to offer. ( read more)

On my own perspective, I believe everyone is a leader. This is because leadership begins in our homes – that’s where we exhibit leadership qualities; care, tolerance, openness, etc. Every leader should be able to live a positive and exemplary life. As young people and leaders, it is bound on us to impact our communities positively starting at youthful age. Brasilia, a capital created ex nihilo in the centre of the country in 1956, was a landmark in the history of town planning. Urban planner Lucio Costa and architect Oscar Niemeyer intended that every element – from the layout of the residential and administrative districts (often compared to the shape of a bird in flight) to the symmetry of the buildings themselves – should be in harmony with the city's overall design. The official buildings, in particular, are innovative and imaginative.
