I get uplifted knowing I and as many who believe have a future that would leave no room for tears or hunger, sorrow or sadness, war nor terrible disasters but peace, peace like a river. As food, water and air are required for survival; inspiration, motivation and the nonstop struggle of life signifies a person’s self-growth and achievement. The main source of inspiration for me has always been the “change makers,” those, especially youth, who work outside their comfort zone to resolve youth issues and empower other youth.

Since the pre-Roman period, a fortified settlement has existed on the hill where Carcassonne now stands. In its present form it is an outstanding example of a medieval fortified town, with its massive defences encircling the castle and the surrounding buildings, its streets and its fine Gothic cathedral. Carcassonne is also of exceptional importance because of the lengthy restoration campaign undertaken by Viollet-le-Duc, one of the founders of the modern science of conservation.
