Hello,

My name is Amanda, and I have recently joined the TIGed team as the Project Assistant Intern for DeforestACTION. I am currently working with the team to determine my role that I will playing within DFA, and I am excited to learn all about this project and hope to build on and document this project throughout my time with TIG.

In addition to interning with TIG I am also studying to receive a certificate in Project Management with Humber, which has already rewarded me with a lot of the skills and techniques that I can utilize in working with DFA. I am also a graduate of York University with a degree in International Development and a certificate of Nonprofit Management.

I love any sport that deals with a board; snowboarding, wakeboarding, wake skating and surfing, and living in Ontario means that traveling to warm coastal spaces and cold mountainous terrains are necessary. Sometimes I believe that subconsciously I chose these sports because I love to travel. After graduation I went on a 6 month backpacking trip throughout various regions in South America, learning different culture and languages. On my journey I volunteered with an ESL program in Brazil and an organization called Traveler not a Tourist in Peru. I am always trying to improve my Spanish, and hope that one day I will become fluent in the beautiful language.
