In as much as corruption is a vice within our societies, we have to realize that we are the people promoting it.In the developing countries like Kenya, there exist mega-corruption within the circles of government and private sector.
To start with I am proud of my country, and I have a belief that it can be the best country in the world if all of us,Kenyans,do our parts in shunning corruption.when we complain of corruption in our society,we simply state how corrupt we are.In a conference I attended last month on the role of the youth in fighting corruption, a speaker said that when too much emphasis is placed on the negative the mind always tend to get accustomed to that.He said that we need to train ourselves by talking about the virtues that we need in the society and only then shall we eradicate the vices.Since we know what is right, we can easily do it!
In our fight against corruption,we need to come up with PERSONAL VALUE SYSTEMS that govern our lives. These systems I believe will go a long way in helping in our fight against corruption. We set our own standards and aspirations of how we want to live our lives, and wee can easily set standards of how we relate to others in fighting corruption.Remember,IT BEGINS WITH ME!!! In the fight against corruption.
