Hello, my neam is Josh and I am an undergraduate at the university of maryland in the US.

Last year, for the first time, we celebrated Interdependence Day, a day global citizenship that had its first event on September 12th, 2003, in Philadelphia, Budapest, and at my school, University of Maryland.

The event went incredibly well, and this year, our flagship event is being held in Rome, sponsored by the Mayor of Rome and endorsed by Rome’s biggest newspaper, Il Republica.

We are having another event at Maryland, and we already have a goal of having a student led conversation on I-Day on every continent in the world.

We are looking for students to host events in their home university communities, and be a part of the larger planning with other students leaders around the world who recognize that we no longer live in a world that is defined by national boundries, but face an increasing group of global problems, front environmental degradation, pandemic diseases, terrorism, and more.

The guiding document is a new Declaration of Interdependence (http://www.civworld.org/declaration.cfm?), signed by global citizens around the world.

The events we plan are not about any political party or agenda, but about carving out a space in our own communities where we can talk about the responsibilities of our generation. This can take the form of a student panel, a key note speaker, an artistic or cultural presentation, or all of these, like the program we are planning at Maryland.

In Rome, Maryland and all the other participating campuses, on the day of the event, there will be a global affirmation where around the world the event is bring celebrated. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us, so we can together assemble an amazing program.

Peace
