We'll be adding plenty for all of you in other states as well. Helping those who help others.

This blog post is specifically for California Organizations because it's a special program administered by the California Public Utilities Commission.

Qualifying entities who apply for and are subsequently added to the list to participate in the CTF (California Teleconnect Fund) receive an ongoing 50% reduction to their Telephone and Internet bills!

We have to get the word out because although the program has been around since 1996 there are only 850 CBO's (Community Based Organizations) on this list at present.

There are a number of fees, taxes, and surcharges on every Californians telephone bill. If you look at yours you will see you are paying into the CTF. It has grown into a 33 MILLION DOLLAR fund for fiscal year '08-'09.

By July, 2009, the PUC will be starting their own outreach program (finally). But it appears they plan to hire only two agents to spread the word and aid in the application process for the entire state!

The Advocacy Resources for Community Managed Technologies Group is being proactive in trying to help you NOW with regards to this since saving 50% could result in freeing up much needed funds for more important endeavors and allow you to better serve the community.
