Sunday’s Words of Encouragement – Matthew 16:21-23

Today#8217;s Text: Matthew 16:21-23.

What is faithfulness? It means to follow through with a commitment regardless of difficulty#8221;, or simply #8220;Love hanging on#8221;.

How can we demonstrate #8220;FAITHFULNESS#8221;

To better understand, the example is Jesus in the 16th chapter of Matthew.

Vs 21 tells us that Jesus brings His disciples together, and tells them that he is going to Jerusalem. He tells them, #8220;I know what will happen there. I#8217;m going to be arrested, and beaten, and crucified. But I#8217;m going any way.#8221;

In the next verse we see Peter pulls Him to the side and tells Him, #8220;Lord don#8217;t go!#8221; But Jesus says, #8220;Get behind me, Satan.#8221; He did not mean that Peter was #8220;Satan#8221;, but that Satan was using Peter to get Jesus to QUIT, to be unfaithful.

Again and again through out His ministry Satan tried to tempt Jesus to be unfaithful.#8221;Don#8217;t go to the Cross. Don#8217;t die for their sins. Just quit. It#8217;s going to be too tough. There will be too many obstacles, too many difficulties. Just turn around and quit.

Even when He was hanging on the cross, the people below Him were mocking Him, saying, #8220;If you really are the Son of God, come down from the cross.#8221; That#8217;s what Satan was saying, too. #8221; Quit!! Come down. It#8217;s not worth it. The pain is too intense. The people don#8217;t care anyway. Just quit!

But the faithfulness of Jesus has inspired the faithfulness of others down through the ages, those who hung in there, through the good and the bad, through times of plenty and times of want.

You may be going through a rough patch in your marriage and Satan through people and your thoughts is telling you to quit! after all you are not beautiful! remember what you did last time! It#8217;s not worth it, just quit. Whatever the case is. God is saying to you my sister, hung in there, Salvation is just around the corner, breakthrough is coming, hung in there. Hold on to your faithfulness, don#8217;t quit. Be positive, confess the right words which will create life and not death.

Temptation will come, no one is exempted, we all get tempted to quit by yielding to fleshy desires. But the Lord gives us strength to remain faithful to whatever we are committed to.

The Lord will give you strength to endure hardship, Just like Jesus did to the point of death. The result is that, we are all saved. Your faithfulness will save a soul, it could be your siblings, your husband/wife, your child, your boy friend, your property or even a stranger.

#8220;The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.#8221; Amen!

The guide dates back to our early attempts at building an online dictionary on Zambian languages called Zanglish. At the time we wanted to crowd-source all the knowledge we could on Zambian languages in an attempt to preserve our rich heritage, while at the same time providing a way for everyone to access this information for free. Today, our goal remains the same, provide a place to access all the information you want to know, or need to know about Zambia for free #8211; the only thing that has changed is that this information is now available under The Zambian.

We look forward to sharing the world of Zambia with you.

Until the 1990s nearly all Zambia#8217;s foreign trade was transported by rail. Today trucks are the dominant transport mode. The resulting damage to Zambia#8217;s roads and concerns over congestion, safety and environment damage have led to widespread calls for the Government to act to reverse the switch from rail to road. Plans have been announced to rehabilitiate existing rail lines to construct new routes.

In essence, this will effectively make a K5,000 note equal to K5, a K10,000 note will be K10, a K20,000 note will be K20 and a K50,000 note will be K50.

The government has knocked out three zeros from the kwacha, a move that is aimed at strengthening the local currency against major convertible currencies. And analyst Chibamba Kanyama has supported government#8217;s move to rebase the kwacha, saying economic stability should be anchored on strong production, exports and fiscal discipline so that the zeros do not resurface.

Lusaka Times#8217; article, Bank of Zambia hopes the introduction of new Kwacha notes will be done within 6 months, provides a time frame of about six months for implementation:

Bank of Zambia governor Michael Gondwe said that the central bank is hoping that the procedure to introduce the new notes will be done within six months.

Zambia Daily Mail, Ngwee back! As Kwacha rebased, by Dean Mwaanga, reviews concerns regarding the printing of new notes and minting of coins:

He did not state how much the government will spend to print the new currency over the coming six months, nor did he state which company would be engaged to carry out the exercise. Rebasing will consequently mean the printing of new notes and making of new coins where they do not exist, according to John Kasanga, an economist. “The good thing the rebasing of the Kwacha will bring about is that it will be easy to transact as the zeros will be knocked off,” Mr Kasanga said. “However, the downside is that the value of the Kwacha shall not improve by knocking off of the zeros.”

Times of Zambia, Govt props up Kwacha, reviews some other changes including minimum capital requirements required for banks:

Mr Chikwanda said the Government had also increased the minimum capital requirement from the current K12 billion to K104 billion for local commercial banks and K520 billion for foreign commercial banks.

The real question is how does this affect us?

On January 18, 2012 many sites around the web — from small personal blogs to internet institutions like Mozilla, Wikipedia, reddit, and WordPress will be going dark in protest and to drive their visitors to sites like Stop American Censorship to take action and help fight the passage of the Senate Bill 968: the Protect IP Act (PIPA).

In an earlier post, SOPA and Zambia, we discussed how we felt that passage of the Stop Online Piracy Act in the United States may affect the way we use the web. This is the same way we feel about the Protect IP Act. SOPA and PIPA are widely considered to be two versions of the same anti-piracy bill. SOPA is the House of Representative’s version whereas PIPA resides in the Senate. Both SOPA and PIPA are intended to curb online piracy. Take a look at the following video to see why we are taking this stance:

Quotas for Women – Governments in Action

We#8217;re absolutely delighted to feature content from the excellent publication titled Alchemy Women in Leadership (AWiL). The year end edition is available for reading online, however, below is an article from the 2011 edition.

Quotas for Women - Governments in action

There are many women’s issues which I think we could learn from and which we regularly channel to the Ministry of Gender, but in addition to them I think professional bodies like Alchemy should be kept in the loop and even work together with MOG in order to strengthen existing mechanisms for women’s issues in Zambia.

The news from this end is that the Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Najib bin tun Abdul razak recently (25th June 2011) introduced a government policy which compels corporations and other reputable companies to include 30% women as Directors on their Boards. This has to be implemented within the next 5 years!

Already Malaysia has attained 32% women in top decision-making positions within the public sector/governemnt structures.

Also the Minister for Women, Family and Community Development Senator Dato Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil recently held (25th July 2011) a Women’s Summit (see: www.thewomenssummit.org ) in which this idea was expounded with experts from the US, UK and Malaysia itself as resource persons on how to operationalise the new quota system. It was very interesting and all the presentations are online.

What I wish to propose is that professional bodies like Alchemy should work closely with Ministry of Gender to firstly, update the National Gender Policy, secondly strategies as to the key women’s issues in view of Zambia’s improved economic status and also in view of the various pieces of legislation which have resolved other basic issues like; gender-based violence, intestate and testate succession, and property ownership.

We need to think of other meaningful ways to bringing women to a level where they can compete internationally and can play meaningful roles in our country. Anyway just wanted to share this info with you- and hope to hear from you soonest!
