What inspires you?
The works of other people that have changed lives positively inspire me a lot. I try to always empathise and see what positive additions I can make to their efforts or what initiative I can take to even do better. Progress when I am doing something is also a source of my inspiration. I actually feel am living when I see progress in what am doing.
Tell us about an issue that matters to you and how you became aware and involved.
Civic pride and responsibility matters to me a lot. Its only when individuals see themselves as part of a wider community connected to each other that human beings will progress. I know the human race has made advances in making weapons of mass destruction but our morals have progressed less!
I became aware of civic responsibility when my friends and I while on a long holiday from school met in our home village and started discussing the plight of our rural poor. We started a CBO to address social urgent needs and make available information that would help them change their condition. We looked for information and got involved.
Share your perspectives on what makes a good leader.
A good leader is one who is responsible, accountable and farsighted. Should be able to listen and seek advice because knowledge is not a monopoly of one person. Leaders need to be dependable and providing the last voice of reason.
Do you think TakingITGlobal can help you achieve some of your goals? Have we already? Please tell us how.
TakingITGlobal is already achieving my goals; to speak and be heard.
It has provided me with a platform to voice my concerns globally that would otherwise have been limited to a few of my friends. Through TakingITGlobal, I have been inspired. I have learnt that my experiences are not unique to me but other youths do share the same which gives me a spirit of belonging to a global youth world inspired, motivated and involved.
