Teachers who want to enhance the learning experience of their students turn to TakingITGlobal to emphasize the importance of global issues through the use of technology.
As a result of their interaction with TakingITGlobal, educators will be connected into and contributing to a community of educators using technology to integrate global issues to create collaborative learning experiences, ultimately influencing their students to achieve a higher standard of learning.
I wanted to expose my students to the world, but I didn't know where, how, and what to do. I found TIG to be a great site for them, as it provided them with the tools to connect and communicate with other students from around the world.Cecilia Estoque

I was really impressed with the global perspective TakingITGlobal offered, as well as its potential as a tool to exchange information from small rural schools. One of the main challenges for me, as a teacher in a rural school, is that children who are exceptionally gifted in a particular subject area have no one to link with to further develop their knowledge and skills. TIG helps me connect them with like-minded children in other schools within our community.Dave Meehan

When I stumbled upon the TakingITGlobal site [in 2006], I was really excited by the diversity of media with which members can express themselves as well as the fact that it was multilingual. In addition, the fact that it's free to join as a TIG member or student is really important because it eliminates the financial barrier.Jane Dougan

I have used TIG to involve, motivate and inspire students from kindergarten to grade 12 and beyond. And it is not just the students who change. Teachers who use TIG in their classrooms, like their students, find themselves becoming completely immersed, learning right alongside their students. Whether it is learning how to use the tools themselves, such as the discussion areas, video chat or virtual art galleries, teachers soon realize that it is not really about technology for technology's sake. Rather, it is about relationships. It is about change. It is about real life learning and making our planet a better place to be. As a teacher, I cannot ask for more.Jim Carleton
