About TakingITGlobal

TakingITGlobal is one of the world's leading networks of young people learning about, engaging with, and working towards tackling global challenges.

Our Vision

Youth around the world actively engaged and connected in shaping a more inclusive, peaceful and sustainable world.

Our Mission

TakingITGlobal empowers youth to understand and act on local and global challenges.

To truly empower young people to become agents of positive change in their local and global communities, we recognize that everyone has a role to play.

This means creating opportunities for youth to get involved and grow regardless of where they are in the world. Our community brings together like-minded youth to take part in programmes that span across the world. From grants and mentorship helping young social innovators get their ideas off the ground, to international art collaborations, we open doors for young people to have impact.

We are avid supporters of bringing technology and world issues to the classroom, and support thousands of educators around the world through our TakingITGlobal for Educators (TIGed) programming. With educators engaged with TIGed from thousands of schools in over 150 countries, we connect hundreds of thousands of students worldwide.

We recognize that lasting change can only be achieved when every member of society is actively involved in supporting young people reach his or her full potential. We seek to empower youth and their allies to ensure every young person and their interest has a place to learn, grow and flourish.

We design and deliver youth engagement programs leveraging the power of creativity, technology, and community. Since our founding in 1999, we've been dedicated to our motto of "inform, inspire, and involve" which has become the pathway to action for our programs.

Often described as a "social network for social good," our award-winning online community was one of the world's first online platforms and has grown to offer a diverse set of educational resources and action tools that give young people the tools they need to succeed. Since our launch in 2000, more than 50 million people have accessed our platforms to learn, grow and realize their potential.

The Land

It is with respect, humility and kindness that our team would like to acknowledge the land that nourishes us.

We acknowledge our interconnectedness and are thankful for the water that flows and life that grows each day. Our organization is comprised of a team from many diverse backgrounds who are situated on Indigenous lands across many First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. In this context, we approach our work with a shared responsibility in upholding treaty agreements and awareness of the ancestors who have come before us, along with the impact of our efforts for generations to come.
